Turkey: Police detain 10 Al-Qaeda suspects over New Year's Eve plot

Bursa and Istanbul, 31 Dec. (AKI) - Turkish police on detained 10 alleged Al-Qaeda militants who they suspect were plotting an attack ahead of New Year, state-run Anatolian news agency reported.

Eight of the suspects were detained in anti-terror raids in the northwestern city of Bursa on Wednesday, and a further two were detained in the capital, Istanbul, and taken to Bursa.

The suspects were expected to appear in court on Friday, Anatolia said.

Anatolia quoted the Turkish military as saying on Friday that 141 terror suspects had been killed, while 70 had been captured, and 203 others had surrendered in 2010.
