15 headless bodies found in Acapulco

The headless bodies of 15 people were found dumped near a shopping center in the tourist city of Acapulco, Mexico, the Guerrero State Public Security office said in a statement Saturday.

The victims are all men between the ages of 25 and 30 years old. Police were led to the bodies by a group of burning vehicles, the security office said.

A 16th body was found in a nearby car. The victim was a 30-year-old man who was shot to death, the office said.

The bodies were not found in an area frequented by tourists, said a spokeswoman for the security office.

"It's a shopping center where locals go regularly, but it's not that far away from the tourist areas," she said. "They were found on a popular highway used to get to the tourist area."

2. Absolutely appalling...
easiest way to end this insanity is to decriminalize drugs...take the profit out of it...then go after and prosecute those inhuman bastards that do stuff like this.

4. Impunity is a big problem in Mexico right now
The only thing they dont have impunity from is each other, and this is how they deal with each other. They kidnap and torture each other, burn each other alive, and do unspeakable things to each other. Impunity, drugs, extreme poverty and the close proximity to the US ensures this will go on for a few more years before they start to get a handle on it.

10. Acapulco sets grisly record as body count soars
Source: SMH

MEXICO CITY: Police have found the bodies of 19 men, 15 of them decapitated, at a shopping mall in the beach resort city of Acapulco.

The discovery on Saturday was the largest single group of decapitation victims found in Mexico and brought the death toll from 24 hours of drug violence in the Pacific Coast resort to 27.

Police received a call alerting them to a burning vehicle near Plaza Sendero, a popular shopping centre. There they found a Nissan four-wheel-drive on fire, and four other abandoned vehicles, one with its motor running. They also found the beheaded corpses and, some distance away, their heads, piled together. Nearby, two white posters with black lettering bore messages from a drug cartel. The bodies were covered in sand and appeared to have been murdered elsewhere.

12. "On Friday the mayor of Zaragoza in Coahuila state was found shot dead."
"Saul Vara was the 15th sitting mayor or mayor-elect murdered since the beginning of last year. Drug violence in Mexico has taken more than 30,100 lives since the President, Felipe Calderon, took office in late 2006."

An estimated 60,000 guns have been purchased in the U.S. and transported to Mexico fueling these deaths . . . . because it is so easy to purchase guns in the U.S.
