Gaddafi declared ‘King of Africa’ by Kenyan elders

Lybia’s ruler Muammah Gaddafi on Friday enjoyed a cheap glory-boost when Community elders from Kenya landed in Lybia’s capital Tripoli to crown him ’King of Africa’.

The poverty-stricken elders who were airlifted from Nairobi and enjoyed an air -flight for the first time at Gaddafi’s expense, declared Lybia’s ruler the King of Africa, during a ceremony in a traditional tent at the leader’s farm. An Imbongi who ran with a water-smeared feather-brush shook the traditional object on Gaddafi several times declaring him ‘The King of Africa’.

However apart from Kenya, no other country was represented.

Speaking shortly after the ceremony, Gaddafi, a Robert Mugabe ally, made his voice even louder on his vision for a unified Africa:

“We must have a defence minister for Africa. We must have one African army to defend Africa,” he said.

7. Crazy that he's only 68 but has led Libya for 41 years.
He could do so for another decade or two. Also, interesting that at some point years ago, he decided to switch from pan-Arabism to pan-Africanism. When he tires of that, what next?

9. Considering the instability in North Africa currently,
I wouldn't be surprised if he were to try to take over neighboring countries.
