Egypt Warns West To Stay Out Of Arab Affairs
Source: AFP

By Mona Salem (AFP) – 5 hours ago

CAIRO — Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit warned Sunday the West to stay out of Arab affairs, days after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton urged Arab leaders to work with their peoples to bring reforms.

And in separate remarks, Cairo's top diplomat downplayed fears that a Tunisian-style popular revolt could spread to other Arab countries, calling it "nonsense."

Abul Gheit made the comments in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh where Arab foreign ministers are preparing for an economic summit to be held on Wednesday.

Egypt, he said, proposed to Arab League chief Amr Mussa that the summit issue a statement concerning "attempts by some Western and European nations to interfere in Egyptian and Arab affairs."

"We hope that the summit will adopt Egypt's proposal which would be a message from the Arab to the Western and European world saying 'Do not dare interfere in our affairs," he was quoted as saying by the official MENA news agency.

14. That list has changed a bit since 1998
Here is what it looked like 10 years later (2008):

1. Israel $2.4 billion
2. Egypt $1.7 billion
3. Pakistan $798 million
4. Jordan $688 million
5. Kenya $586 million
6. South Africa $574 million
7. Mexico $551 million
8. Colombia $541 million
9. Nigeria $491 million
10. Sudan $479 million

Of course this doesn't include Iraq and Afghanistan which dwarf everyone on this list.

Out Aid to Egypt and Israel

The Atlantic
Jul 8 2010, 8:00 AM ET
James Gibney

On March 26, 1979, President Jimmy Carter smiled over one of the most expensive handshakes in U.S. diplomatic history: the signing of a peace treaty between Egypt and Israel by Anwar Sadat and Menachem Begin. As part of what Carter called "tangible evidence of U.S. dedication to the peace process," the United States agreed to provide $4.8 billion in "special financial aid" to the two countries over the next three years. But "special" quickly became normal: since then, Uncle Sam has handed over anywhere from $3 billion to $5 billion a year to both. That's a lot of "dedication."

In fact, from 1962 to 2008, the United States has devoted at least 20 percent of its total foreign aid to Egypt and Israel, which were the top foreign aid recipients from 1978 until the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. And guess what, you lucky taxpayers: we recently guaranteed Egypt and Israel, respectively, $1.3 billion and $3 billion in military financing each year for the next decade.

11. Here's a country that was in the middle ages
when we became friends and through all the U.S. meddling in the East and with the condition of the U.S., countries like this, which we used
to control, like Iran, are telling us what to do because they know we don't have anything but military clout these days and that's all we use to
back up our side of any argument. We have to get used to working with the upcoming super economic powers. Those who have the best economy
have the best government and military.
I think Obama did what he had to for the country the first two years, not i think he'll bring jobs to the forefront for the remainder of his first term.

Saw a program today and basically they were saying this hype about China and the trade deficit and everything is made in china.
Well, everything they make they sell her which employs a lot of people and repair shops. So we actually are becoming a reliant economic partner with them.
It's not all that bad. The car plant they bought into in the U.S. will put Americans to work and those who make parts for the cars and repair them.
I think the media types hype this China thing too much.
