Apple's Steve Jobs takes medical leave

(CNN) -- Apple CEO Steve Jobs is taking leave of absence from the company because of a medical condition, according to a letter Jobs sent to Apple employees.

"At my request, the board of directors has granted me a medical leave of absence so I can focus on my health. I will continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions for the company," Jobs says in the letter.

I would say IF it is the third listed, the most likely, he would be probably requiring extensive chemo radiation..then he may not be physically able to work for a while, if ever again.

There is something with a good chance work in his case but he will probably never hear about it because his has access to top of the line health care.

The expired orphan drug Dichloracetate (DCA) was originally used experimentally for children with mitochondrial problems. It can no longer be patented. However in a recent set of ground breaking peer reviewed papers it been has shown to have spectacular anti-cancer properties with minimal side effects compared to traditional "it kills cancer cells faster than your other cells" chemotherapy drugs.

Teddy Kennedy was in a similar place because DCA is particularly effective against his type of brain tumor but he had the best doctors available.

I suspect this may be the underground "peoples drug" for cancer for the present/future for people who have little/no access to health care. It is very cheap and can be very effective for certain specific cancers (those that have turned off the mitochondria in the tumor). It can also be used with traditional chemo. The cost per day is roughly $1per day but you cannot legally buy it in the united states and need to be careful to get the correct form. You must also take vitamin B1 at the same time.

Note, this is a serious drug and people need to educate themselves on how to take it. The site above has the information. In cases where it is very effective, larger doses can cause Tumor Lysis Syndrome by destroying a tumor too fast. TLS can kill you.
