House Votes to Repeal Affordable Care Act 245-189
Source: Crooks & Liars

After two days of debate which mostly felt like a replay of the mind-numbing debate we watched in 2009 and 2010, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act. All of the Republicans were joined by 4 Democrats. Here are some of the provisions already in effect which they voted to repeal:

* Excluding children under age 19 with pre-existing conditions
* Lifting lifetime and annual limits on benefits paid. No longer can a price be put on someone's life.
* Allowing young adults to remain on their parents' policies.
* Closing the Medicare Part D donut hole for seniors.

Later when they ask "why did you fuck us over on everything else?" they can point to this.

Of course, now the democrats could use this to show that the Republicans LOVE it when insurance companies pull your coverage when you get sick after a lifetime of paying, but they're always one to let a good opportunity pass.

6. Repeal what? You do realize they did absolutely nothing and healthcare will stay as is.
Last time I checkec the senate also needs to pass this bill AND the president also has to sign that bill.

The republicans did nothing but a show vote to appease the teabaggers. In the end the healthcare bill will stand as is.

20. I know.....still, it's very pathetic the whole "you pass it, we'll repeal it" game...

4. Why didn't Dems just not vote at all?
Instead of giving the pukes the talking points about how so and so voted against the "job killing....", they should have just abstained.

7. Good for them.
And I'll be a bit gracious here.

I find nothing wrong with what the House Repuglicans did ... they promised during their campaigns that they would have a vote to repeal ObamaCare and they did.

Now, for political reasons, I'm somewhat glad that this is as far as it goes (although, frankly, I think this is a crappy law and barely any reform at all).

But I don't know why anyone should complain that they kept their promise to their base supporters -- they did win the House majority after all. I'd like to see our President have as much deference to his base supporters.

21. I agree with your points
All of them. But I'd like to know how we could put a price tag on this wasted effort. With these pukes talking about cutting unnecessary spending, how much was flung to the winds on this boondoggle effort? Might have been different if they had a hope in hell of getting it past the senate, but they KNEW that wasn't the case. They must all be Bull elephants, cause Bull shit is all they produce.

MR. Boehner.... where is my job?

If the rethug lizards get the Senate, we're done. Actually we're probably already done, but it hasn't quite set in yet.

22. I see old sicko Craavack voted for the repeal. He had better give
up his health care because he has an illness - sleep apnea. He does not need health care anymore than many of his constituents. And he may have gotten himself elected in an off year but the attitude of northern MN people is not with him in this. We are watching crackass.

13. Doesn't mean anything.
They will never get it though the Senate. They have no plan to replace it. The majority of the people don't want it.

18. Way to go House! Any good reason why these are bad provision other than corporate interest?
I wonder why those reps' constituents thought that those reps would be acting in the best interest of the people. When those reps just hold hands with Big Insurance.

27. Now that bill can go die in the Senate.
The repeal would have to make it through the Senate and be signed by the Prez.

Somehow I don't see either of those happening.

This vote is purely theater for the Tea Baggers.

Mike Ross from Arkansas 4th congressional district.
Dan Boren from Oklahoma 2nd congressional district.
Mike McIntyre from North Carolina 7th congressional district.

The fourth is Giffords who did not vote for obvious reasons.

But somewhere, some low-information voter just thought that "Obamacare" was declared dead.

And they'll vote Republican AGAIN for this "courageous action" of saving the world from dangerous "socialism".
