Just Before Hearings, King Will Appear On Anti-Muslim Group's TV Show
Source: Talking Points Memo

Just before he holds hearings on the "radicalization" of Muslims in America, Rep. Peter King (R-NY) will appear on the new TV show for a group that believes Muslims are the enemies of America.

In early February, King, the chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, will appear on the debut episode of a TV show produced by the group Act! For America. The group's founder, Brigitte Gabriel, believes that Muslims can't be trusted to serve in the U.S. armed forces; that "tens of thousands of Islamic militants now reside in America ... attending our colleges and universities, even infiltrating our government;" and that Americans must unite to "defeat radical Islam."

Who counts as a radical Muslim to Gabriel?

"Every practicing Muslim is a radical Muslim," she says.

1. Not familiar with Rep. King...
could it be that he will try to convince them they are way over the top on the issue? All Republicans can't be nuts, right? I can see a Democratic member of congress agreeing to talk with them to bring the alternate view to the program. Anyone from his district here - what is the consensus on this guy?

2. From what I have seen on the TeeVee...
typical RW a-hole. I suspect he'll agree with them right down the line. Hope I'm wrong.

4. King is a supporter of terrorist groups...
but that's okay because his terrorists are white and Catholic.

6. It sounds like a talk show, and King is going to be interviewed.
Sure, he could absolutely say something that an elected official shouldn't say, but is he responsible for the beliefs of the host just for agreeing to go on the show?

8. My money is on him saying something stupid
but I still don't think you can hold him responsible for the host's opinions, just because he goes on the show.

9. You're kidding, right?
You think he doesn't agree with the show's host?

McCarthy, after all, did gain lasting notoriety with his committee in the 50's.

10. I read your link, and while he might agree with the host
what he said is not even close to the same thing Gabriel said (IMO). I'm just saying that one's appearance on a TV show doesn't necessarily mean one agrees with the hosts viewpoints, which seems to me to be where this article is going. We don't need guilt by association for King, we can judge him as a douchebag based on his own words.
