Palin Putting out Presidential Feelers in Iowa
Source: ABC News

Palin's Aides Gauge Support Level for Potential Presidential Campaign in Iowa

"We have supporters in Iowa that we speak with frequently. The governor is honored to have their support," said Andrew Davis, a strategist at SarahPAC, Palin's political action committee.

But the calls and outreach don't represent any major "uptick" in political activity. Palin advisers have been making these types of calls for months.

Since last year, activists have been reaching out to the Palin team to offer support. Palin aides make sure to call back to thank them and maintain the type of contact that would be needed to build a full-scale campaign operation, if needed. As of now, the Palin team is not asking for formal commitments from supporters

Despite the contact, political veterans on the ground in Iowa say they see little sign of the Palin effort.

One senior Iowa Republican told ABC News, "While it is still early, there are no indications on the ground that Governor Palin is taking the organizational steps associated with mounting a full-scale caucus campaign. Directly engaging traditional caucus-going Iowa Republicans is a must for a successful effort, and as of yet, that is not happening."

1. She has to stay in the limelight, doesn't she??
My friend has a theory that she has to run to keep her gravy train rolling -- or else people will forget about her.

12. I agree with your friend.
Sarah Palin is nothing more than a grifter. She only became famous due to John MacCain's lack of integrity and morals. She "quit," her reign as Governor of Alaska because she was being hit with the spotlight, reflecting her incompetancy and possible legal problems. She and Tawd, hit the finacial jackpot when they turned a failed Presidential campaign into a moneymaking scam. She feeds tripe to the the lazy, uniformed, religious zealots and those who want easy simplistic answers for their own personal problems. As any grifter, she doesn't have to be book smart, only smarter than those that she scams. The Palin Empire has learned from the best-of-the-best, ie., Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, O'Reilly.....all highly sucessful grifters who have made millions in the grifter business. Sarah Palin has no intention of becoming POTUS, only in playing her con game as far as it will go. Thus far, the Palin Empire has brought in millions for the tribe.....who'da thunk!

35. Very well stated post. You have described her and her con game exactly as..
it is, and how and why it came about. Equating Sarah to Limbaugh and all the conniving Fox grifters is brilliant, too. They are all just the 21'st century version of snake oil salesmen.

37. There's a big difference
According to the Wikipedia article on snake oil, genuine Chinese Snake Oil contains 25 percent oil from Chinese water snakes and is used as a arthritis and joint pain reliever, where it is a good product.

The infamous Stanley's Snake Oil, which the snake oil salesmen were selling, contains capsaicin, which is found in some modern liniments.

Snake oil isn't a cure-all, but it's good for something...unlike the shit Fox News and Palin are dishing out, which isn't good for anything.

15. Agreed but also
I think she also has ego enough to spare to actually believe she would make a good president as well as a need to prove her detractors wrong about her - everyone from the Lamestream media (especially Couric) to McCain campaign aides who complained about her going off on her own, etc. Combine that with the media - for whatever reason - setting her up as a king-maker in the past election, and I think she's going to enter the race... to try and prove people wrong, to keep her face and opinions on TV, and when she drops out, she'll try to sway the remaining candidates to support her positions in return for her telling her supporters to support them.

22. I've been saying that for months ... she won't take a serious run at it.
She is making waaaaaaaaay too much money doing what she is doing now. She has to give the impression that she will run, and will do that. But if she manages to find herself as the front runner among the GOP going in to, say, South Carolina, she will find a reason to quit and blame the intrusive media and demons from the left for it. Ever the victim, Palin. And rich beyond her wildest dreams.

And, I think Michelle Bachmann sees it and thinks she can create her own gravy train as well.

If her minions have been at this for months, & no one seems to notice outside of her hard-core supporters, the Snooki of the GOP is toast.

38. Stop comparing her to Snooki. Snooki is way smarter.
Edited on Sat Jan-22-11 06:09 AM by Kahuna
You've probably never seen her for you to make a comparison like that. When Snooki makes outrageous statements it's tongue-in-cheek. She's actually a very smart young lady.

8. I only know of one who is a diehard Palin (and O'Liely) fan.
That gives you an indication of her level of intelligence. She was the only person with RW signs in her yard in this neighborhood during the last election. Maybe the others were in the closet and were too ashamed to admit they were Repugs.

I truly don't see her getting any support in Iowa, but I've been wrong before.

18. Hope Iowa doesn't pull a McCain on us and force her on us
She is playing to the far right and if she does well in the early primary states then in the south, she could go pretty far.
Somebody tell Huckleberry they already voted on repeal of the health care bill, I'm sick of that ad.

25. The "governor"? Of what?
"...'The governor is honored to have their support,' said Andrew Davis, a strategist at SarahPAC..."

In what universe is Sarah Palin a governor? I'm pretty the word applies to sitting governors, former governors who served their full terms, and 19th-century London johns.

29. Why am I picturing the 1950s style horror movie feelers of a giant blood-thirsty insect
when I think of the words, "feelers" and "Palin" in the same sentence? Oh, that's right. She IS a giant blood-thirsty pesticide resistant insect hellbent on taking over America and sucking it dry...just like a bad bad bad 1950s B Grade horror movie that just won't end.

I wish her 15 minutes were over. x(

32. Sarah Palin
has been positioning herself for a 2012 prez run since she retreated, her Gubernatorial post.Do not be fooled, she will not spend her money. Why on earth would she so foolishly do the Hannity interview?Furthermore the GOP,has planned this since the 2008 election. It maters not who the neo-cons have. Mrs.Palin she gets the $ and the house. The hope ,as I see it from the Republicans is the left splintering and taking away votes from President Obama, added with some good ole vote fraud(recalling the more of us to vote ,the harder to cheat.)I although feel disappointment, am hanging tough with President Obama. After reelection the President has nothing to lose.I may be considered politically naive, but Mrs.Palin is angry because as this Arizona thingy has interfered with her plans. Her whole Don't retreat- reload brand, has been repudiated.

33. If she ran she would actually have to answer questions and give interviews to outlets other than
Faux News and other sycophant RW sites....no more living in her little bubble world of Faux News suck-ups.

Having said all that, I doubt she'll run, the speculation about it is a way for her to raise money and keep her name in the news.
