Fox News Poll: Most Say Prayer Helped Save Congresswoman Giffords
Source: Fox News

Nearly 8 in 10 American voters say they believe prayers helped Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords survive the Tucson shooting, according to a Fox News poll released Thursday.

The congresswoman and 18 others were shot on Jan. 8 at a town-hall meeting in Tucson. Her neurosurgeon has called her recovery “miraculous.” Giffords is expected to be transferred to a rehabilitation facility as early as Friday to continue recovering from brain injuries she suffered after being shot in the head.

Seventy-seven percent of voters believe prayers helped save Giffords, while 17 percent don’t believe that. The remaining 6 percent are unsure.

Those most likely to believe prayer saved Giffords include white Born-Again Christians (95 percent), those who regularly attend religious services (91 percent), blacks (91 percent), Republicans (84 percent), Southerners (83 percent) and women (81 percent).

If she died she would be a martyr. Democrats have been praying that she would live so she could spit in Palin's eye.

14. Yup. This is just hilarious.
The strongest and most aggressive nation in the world, where voters think prayer helps people survive. Laughing all the way to WWIII, I am.
Seriously, guys. Out the bankers, out the corrupt politicians (sadly, that means most of them and ALL of D.C.), out the energy robber barons and take your country forward into the appropriate century.
We could really use some sense instead of meaningless, folding-your-hands-and-not-using-them, good for nothing prayer.

74. Epicurus expressed a similar opinion in a short little zinger
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.

Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.

Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?

Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Epicurus

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/31/health/31pray.html

And patients who knew they were being prayed for had a higher rate of post-operative complications like abnormal heart rhythms, perhaps because of the expectations the prayers created, the researchers suggested.

51. No, a GAY LATINO MAN saved her life
Then the EMTs, then the Nurses and Doctors. Then to top all that off, it's Gabby's own will to live that is the most important part of all those who had a hand in saving her life. We could go even further and say that the men and women who are dying in Iraq & Afghanistan helped saved Gabby's life because of all the head wounds suffered during the war, US doctors are becoming more adept at treating these kinds of wounds.

If you believe it was indeed prayer that saved her, then obviously God was paying attention to that particular act of domestic terrorism and chose NOT to spare a lot of people's lives. If that's what you believe, then I want no part of such a nit-picky God.

The elites have government provided health care. The rest of us just have to suffer and die.

Plus the deranged shooter only shot her once. Professional assassins shoot twice in the body, once in the head, to make sure their target is dead.

She is very fortunate, indeed.

And I am not religious, but if I were, I would find it something of an insult to God to imply that he would only save someone if people prayed for him to do so - like a rather unreliable human who needs to be nagged to do his job.

I am very glad to hear of Giffords' good progress, and wish her all the best and an excellent recovery.

95 percent of White Born Again Christians, 91 percent of Regular Churchgoers, 91 percent of Blacks Who Watch Faux News (you know, all 100 of them), 84 percent of Republicans, 83 percent of Southerners and 81 percent of Women Who Watch Faux News dropped to their knees and spoke one solemn prayer: "Please, Jesus, give her seat to a Republican!"

And because God, who knows and sees all, has no intention of letting that happen, she's going to be back on the House floor before the end of February.
