School Board votes to put the Ten Commandments back up
Source: WDBJ

The Ten Commandments will be displayed once again in Giles County schools.

The school board voted 5 to 0 Thursday to put the Ten Commandments back up. The school system removed the framed displays after it received a letter calling for separation of church and state.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation told News7 it is very concerned about the school board's decision. Patrick Elliott, a staff attorney for the group, believes the school board gave in to pressure from parents. He says the school board will violate the Constitution if it puts the Ten Commandments back in the schools. Elliott told News7, "I just hope the board will cool and reconsider its decision and follow the Constitution." He says The Freedom From Religion Foundation will consider a lawsuit if parents from the Giles community ask for it

2. I'm thinking now that every DUer
should look into what it takes to run for school board.

This is how the RWingnuts took over the political process and tone. Waaaaay back, even before 1980, Vigurie started mobilizing the RWingnuts to run for school boards.

11. Good point.
Since those commandments were created someplace in the Mesopotamia on a continent other than North America it stands to reason that the commandments are laws that are of a foreign nature.

8. We miss the golden opportunity when this happens

We should applaud the effort, support it and DEMAND that the big Ten be displayed. BUT, along with the display, a law that reads that any person who holds public office, that breaks any of the Ten, will be removed from their position and never allowed to hold office again.

Simply put to the fundies, "If you want them up, then put your ass where your mouth is. If you don't want to personally abide by the big Ten, then shut up until you do."

10. Too bad........
they don't teach them to read first. Some of them might not want
to follow all those rules.........not sure what they all are, but
is there one about adultery? Glad I don't know what the rules are.
Makes life so much easier, just being human.

12. This will cost the district a bundle...
in legal costs. The fucking board should be recalled for wasting the money that should be spent on kids.

The ACLU or some other group will have the funding to fight this, but the local board will have to cut funding for the classroom to pay for their little religious tantrum.

13. I just hope they get them right
Thou shalt not seethe a kid in its mother's milk.

They boil kids in their mother's milk at schools around here EVERY DAY. I want them to stop. The kids scream something outrageous. What's wrong with boiling them in oil anyways?

I dearly hope I don't need the 'sarcasm' smilie.
