8. Thanks ... Its back on again and I did a search
Some lawyers have suggested that the Government chose Sir John because he is an establishment figure unlikely to challenge ministers too strongly or ask truly difficult questions.

Seems its gonna be a whitewash, but I hope not.

5. They just let him talk, like we have heard him talk a thousand times before
Edited on Fri Jan-21-11 05:50 AM by mogster
When asked how he acted around Bush and the desicion to invade Iraq, Blair answers with ambigousness: I brought the matter back into the UN, there were people in his administration who said this would bring the matter back into the bureaucracy...
What they should ask was: Who said that? When exactly did they say that?

But you know, it's just 'some people in his administration' that 'said something' that changed the course of the world.
An inquiry is supposed to affirm what really happened:
- who did/said what
- when was it said or done
- what was the effect on the matter for inquiry

This is just Tony talking outta his ass, as usual. Nothing on the bogus intel used to sway the opinion, nothing on the war on the BBC caused by the sexed up dossiers, etc. etc.

On edit: And even with this sexed up inquiry, the Norwegian media blanks out all mention of it :D

9. Now finished but text should remain.
Peter Oborne, writing in the Daily Telegraph blog says: "Essentially, this is a panel with no forensic skills. It asks long, discursive questions which enable Tony Blair to choose which bit he wants to deal with and go off on a tangent of his own. Even a parliamentary committee would do better than this. As for Mr Blair, he comes across as tanned, expensively groomed, fluent - and evasive."

This enquiry continues to be a whitewash. :(
