Agents Canvass Northwest In Search of Bomb Making Parts
Source: khq

SPOKANE, Wash. – As federal agents spread across the Inland Northwest searching for bomb parts, authorities are asking local companies about PVC material including caps for pipes.

Agents have described a unique size of pipe or cap to several companies and asked whether they had sold the material to anyone.

A dark backpack with an explosive device was found in downtown Spokane as several thousand people prepared to march of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday.

Authorities confiscated the Swiss-Army brand backpack and the device inside was sent to FBI facilities in Virginia for testing.

A news release from the FBI described the backpack as a, "potentially deadly destructive device, likely capable of inflicting multiple casualties."

The FBI has offered a reward of $20,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.

1. This must be hard for the FBI
After all, it is so much easier to provide the needed materials to a potential terrorist!

2. $20,000 reward?
Warlords in Afghanistan got 2-5 times that much for claiming rival warlords worked for the Taliban.

3. PVC Pipe and Caps?
This could be used for anything from sprinkler systems in yards to plumbing in homes. Perhaps there is some way to determine how old the PVC is, but if there isn't...? Realistically, you have to wonder how far they will get with this.

4. Maybe they're just trying to throw a scare into the bomb makers.
Then again, buying more than a few caps at one time would certainly be suspicious.

5. It's apparently something out of the ordinary
If it was just two-inch Schedule 40, there'd be a problem because every Home Depot in the world has a shitload of that.
