'Amazing' Australian floodwaters enter new towns
(AFP) – 3 hours ago

MELBOURNE — Surging flood waters broke levees in disaster-hit Australia on Monday to inundate more properties in the southeast, as residents sandbagged homes against the spiralling crisis.

Swollen rivers in the southeastern state of Victoria have created a flood zone measuring an estimated 90 kilometres (56 miles) long and 40 kilometres wide, the State Emergency Service said.

"This area has seen unprecedented flooding," SES spokesman Kevin Monk told AFP. "This is just amazing."

...."Some people had their year's rainfall in a week," Monk said. "It's heading where it's got to head -- it's got to head towards the Murray."

6. It does sound almost too bizarre to be real...
I think that just like the same story about bullsharks cruising through suburban Brisbane streets, this might be designed to scare off potential looters....

5. I think what's happening in Australia is causing scientists to rewrite some
of their worst case global warming scenarios....I haven't heard about their reactions yet, but-that "inland tsunami" that hit 2,300 ft above sealevel........really seems to indicate they've vastly underestimated what is possible.

9. Makes you wonder what Nature has in store for the Northern Hemisphere.
Summer is coming. I'd be nervous if I lived on the other side of a levee.

11. As those reality defying conservatives say
"there is not global warming". What has to happen before their state of denial finally hits them?

12. Excellent question, Stargazer99.
One would think floods like this would make even the hardiest denier of global climate change sit up and take notice.
