Drug has 'given me my life back,' former talk show host says

Former talk show host Montel Williams has urged state lawmakers to legalize medical marijuana in Maryland, saying it has a role helping those with painful ailments such as his own.

The Baltimore native spoke Monday at a news conference with Maryland lawmakers who support legalized medical marijuana.

Williams, 54, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1990. He said he had been living with pain in his lower extremities, face and side for years and added that marijuana provided the only relief he could find.

"Marijuana may not work for everyone, but what it has done for me is given me my life back," Williams told the Frederick News-Post.

1. Like the economy, apparently not enough people are hurting badly enough...
to support marijuana to relieve pain that would make it acceptable. Some would rather pay high pharmaceutical charges. This is typically stupid.:hippie: :banghead:

4. Not just "medical" marijuana....
Just legalize the weed already. All natural flora. Make GMOs and greedy biotechs like Monsanto illegal.

6. Go Montel!! if they don't listen to a Marine, they don't have ears
I think marijuana should be legal. probably less harmful than alcohol. Also I have a daughter with a condition that marijuana might help and make her life more comfortable. Would love to be able to try it on her. And I know it helps with chemo if you have cancer.

7. What's wrong with this picture
A federal judge in Benton, Illinois sentenced former sheriff Raymond Martin to two life terms for marijuana distribution. (He was also convicted for a failed plot to kill witnesses and carrying a firearm (his service revolver)during his drug activity.)

Jon Burge, the Chicago cop who allegedly tortured arrestees until they confessed during a period of 40 years. His name has become synonymous with police brutality in the nation's third-largest city, with allegations stretching back nearly 40 years and the case even affecting the state's debate over the death penalty. Dozens of suspects — almost all of them black men — claimed Burge and his officers tortured them into confessing to crimes from robbery to murder. Burge was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison.

So a crooked cop in Podunk involved with marijuana who made threats that never came to pass and possessed guns gets two life sentences, while Jon Burge, a crooked cop in Chicago, who used guns as one method of actually torturing innocent arrestees for decades gets 4.5 years.
