Military investigating treatment of WikiLeaks suspect
By Chris Lawrence, CNN
January 25, 2011 2:47 p.m. EST

Washington (CNN) -- The U.S. military is investigating why the commander of the military jail put Pfc. Bradley Manning, suspected of leaking documents to WikiLeaks, on suicide watch for a few days last week, according to Pentagon spokesman Col. David Lapan.

Manning is in a brig at Marine Corps Base Quantico, charged with taking classified documents and suspected of leaking secret documents to WikiLeaks.

The commander of the brig placed Manning on "suicide watch" last week, but then lifted the restriction two days later. While on suicide watch Manning was in solitary confinement, and jailers took away his clothing and anything that he could use to harm himself, including his reading glasses.

An investigation has been launched into whether Brig Commander James Averhart had the authority to place Manning on suicide watch, which is usually ordered by the medical staff.

4. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that they are using excuses
to justify psychological torture. And letting them investigate themselves. That is a laugh.

8. Rat Defends Cheese
Rat Defends Cheese.

I didn't realize the Military did StandUp Comedy.

A more civilized people would offer Manning a method to End It.
If he chooses. A matter of Honor, lost in a Judeo/Christian/Muslim
Cultural Construct.

Manning should be permitted to post Bail
and await any potential Trial.

He is Presumed Guilty, until proven innocent by Trial.
He must prove a negative. Impossible to do. But Standard
Justice if you haven't noticed.
Now I read on Rawstory the PTB can not even connect Manning to Assange.

US can’t link Julian Assange to Bradley Manning: report
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/01/us-cant-link-assange-manning/

I believe Manning a Patsy for bigger fish.

9. Military defends putting Wikileaks suspect on suicide watch
From Chris Lawrence, CNN
January 25, 2011 6:43 p.m. EST

http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/01/25/wikileaks.suicide.watch/

Washington (CNN) -- A Quantico official says a U.S. Marine commander did not violate procedure when he placed Private Bradley Manning on "suicide watch" last week.

"The brig commander has the ultimate responsibility to determine what status a detainee is given. He based the decision on information from psychological professionals, the medical staff and the Marine guards who are interacting with him around the clock. The commander was absolutely within his right. Not just his right, his responsibility," said Lieutenant Brian Villiard.

.......

"I can't discuss the details of why the brig commander changed his status, but it boils down to: if the guards or anyone who advises the commander notices an anomaly -- something that raises an eyebrow -- appropriate actions have to be taken," Villiard said.
