Anti-capitalists clash with riot police in Davos
Source: Reuters

Anti-capitalist protesters threw bottles at riot police on Saturday and officers responded with water cannon as a small demonstration on the final day of the World Economic Forum briefly turned violent.

The clash came after a group of about 100 mainly young, local protesters marched through the chic Swiss ski resort of Davos and gathered near the railway station, some distance from the conference center hosting the Forum.

It was the second episode of violence in Davos this week. Swiss anarchists claimed responsibility for a small explosion that broke windows and shook a hotel on Thursday where executives were meeting. Nobody was hurt in that incident.

Waving banners saying "Down with Capitalism" and "Stop Screwing Us on Salaries", Saturday's demonstrators marched along an approved snow-covered route taking them past the outer perimeter of the WEF's elite meeting.

4. I think there's a DEFINITE growing awareness.............
of just WHO is responsible for the world wide economic mess we're dealing with now. And it ain't the workers. I see more and more of these types of stories,i.e., people pointing the finger (usually the middle finger :)) at the capitalists who actually CAUSED the problem.

Kick for awareness.

6. "...briefly turned violent." Just kinda sorta happened, huh, passively, of its own volition...
God, I hate this kind of corpo-fascist so-called reporting. And Rotters is among the worst.

WHAT did the PEACEFUL PROTESTORS, marching out in the open with their signs, have to do with the "small explosion"?

WHAT did the POLICE do to cause peaceful marchers to act in self-defense?

WAS the rock throwing EVEN CONNECTED to their march?

Ever since Seattle, when I saw massive police violence against peaceful people--and the mindbogglingly false coverage given to that awesome protest by the corpo-fascist press, I have simply NOT believed these sorts of accounts. They are LYING.

7. Yeah, my first thought when I hear about violence..........
at some sort of demonstration is agent provocateurs. Remember the most violent of your group is probably a cop of some sort or another. At least that was what I always thought in the 60s.
