Riot Police Guard Against Anti-Billionaire Protesters in Rancho Mirage. (25 arrested)

This is live video sent back from the Quarantine the Kochs rally in Rancho Mirage about an hour and a half ago. John Amato is on the scene and has called me a couple of times with updates. There are about 1500 people or so there, peacefully protesting the convocation of billionaires at the Rancho Las Palmas resort. The purpose of the meeting is to figure out how to impeach Obama and take over our government in order to preserve their wealth, justice, and liberty at the expense of ours. Glenn Beck was the keynote speaker last night, and Eric Cantor was also on the guest list. (Full list here (PDF))

Remarkably, there are scores of riot police guarding the driveways into the resort. The last report I've seen says 25 people have been arrested.

One great thing about the poor is, when they riot you can hire half of them to keep the other half in line.

I wonder if the police and army for that matter, understand that they are the poor too, they are socialist workers hired by the government, to suppress these demonstrations against tyrants like Koch.

That is the amazing thing about all of this. It is a bizarro situation, where the tyrants have managed to hire and fund the Tea Party republicans, to portray the ordianry working people somehow as being tyrants, when the true tyrants are those living behind the gates in wealthy communties, that hire security to keep the angry, disinfranchised rabble away from their door.

There is a limit to the amount of bullshit that can be covered and hidden and how much greed and inhuman activity will be allowed to pass unabated. When that limit is reached, when enough people have nothing left to lose, then all of them - the entire seedy ensemble - had better start setting up their "Flee-dom plans".

When this shit storm goes down, they are going with it, straight into the toilet of historical irrelevance - and NO amount of money or illusory "control" is going to save them at that point. I'm sure that 14 days ago, Mubarak was feeling like one of the masters of the universe in his own little way...they may want to give him a call and see how its working out for him and his family now!

71. I recently read about it in David Talbot's book "Brothers",
about Jack and Bobby Kennedy's working relationship, as distinct from their personal one.

The plotting it referred to was organised by a man named William Pawley, a very wealthy tycoon, who had been an Ambassador for the U.S., and had ties to the CIA. Hated Castro, and by extension, Kennedy, for not invading Cuba to remove him. He was a hardliner who had the money and power to carry out his wildest plans against Kennedy.

A co-conspirator was Henry Luce, head of the Time-Life media empire, who also hated Kennedy for his policy towards Cuba, although he'd been friendly with old Joe Kennedy.

These two, with others of like mind, concocted some wild schemes to bring Kennedy down, and they mind me so much of what I'm reading now about the Koch brothers.

LA QUINTA, Calif. — Authorities in California say 25 protesters have been arrested for trespassing outside a strategy session of conservative political donors at a Palm Springs-area resort.

Riverside County Deputy Melissa Nieburger (NEE'-bur-gur) said Sunday that the protesters were being booked at Indio Jail and released.

Hundreds of people participated in the mostly peaceful demonstration that had been arranged with authorities, but some protesters crossed the street to the Rancho Las Palmas Resort.

Deputies in riot gear arrested them without incident when they refused to leave the area.

instead of the protesters outside the strategy session coup plot. Then they should confiscate frozen all their assets; that ought to reduce the deficit. Next, the cops should arrest teabaggers for being such dirty Koch suckers.

They have no value. They represent the worst group of human beings since the Third Reich.

I don't think we need to cede the planet to these people, they already have plans in the works to take it.

They plan to cut every tree, mine every mineral, steal every drop of water, drill for every drop of oil on public land, all the while preventing the adoption of alternative energy technology. Their plan is to use the largess from this theft to consolidate and strengthen their gains into a thousand year Reich. And just as they have co-opted the entire media they will succeed in this endeavor unless someone steps up to stop them. And I don't know what it would take to stop this fucking insanity.

24. Basically, wealthy traitors get police protection from citizens
with serious concerns about how democracy is being ground into dust beneath the feet of the well heeled. The oligarchy is protected, the citizen is oppressed...we are not far from true class warfare.

These people feasting on pheasant, worried that the peasants might get an extra pigeon to carry them through the day. Millions unemployed, and these clowns make money by manipulating money markets, or people like Beck, a man with the IQ of a spoon, making millions telling those that will listen that everyone but they are Communists, nazi's or subversives, simply because they have a difficult time working for a pittance.

Day by day, we are coming closer to a "Storm the Bastille" moment. I do not condone violence, but I can see us moving in that direction as the gap widens and the ultra-wealthy try even harder to crush the working citizen.

Unless an organized group of protesters broke through the police lines and got into the building and actually disrupted the meeting. Its definitely not something I'd recommend for those who prefer not to be clubbed, gassed, and tasered by the police though.

62. Jackass on Chicago talk radio pretended to get upset due to a caller saying
"Kotch" brothers instead of "Coke" brothers.

The ass wasn't able to refute the caller about the deeds of the Koch's so instead he hung his whole argument on the mis-pronunciation like "oh this caller is sooooo stupid he can't even PRONOUNCE their name." Like that makes any damn difference.

That's one of the asinine tricks of the wingnut host if they have an intelligent caller. Either talk real loud over them, find one insignificant thing to "red herring" the conversation or (and this is something almost all of them do) keep saying the caller's name over and over while they are trying to talk, i.e. "KEVIN! KEVIN!! KEVIN!" innumerable times to talk over the caller's speech.

I hate talk radio. Even ours I'm not so crazy about. I would rather have a host and guests - most callers are unprepared and don't present their case very well or else they are screaming crazies.

If ever there was an Evil Empire or a Dr. Evil it would be the Koch Brothers.

Sadly it seems that the only progressive commentatotr that talks about them in the MS media is Papantonio.
Thank god for Papantonio.

67. Saw most of the gathering, the copters, the activists, good turnout!
I was in the mall/shopping cneter where they mobilized, right before the closed the street.
Didn't see the riot cops though.
