Bin Laden attempts to head to Yemen
Al-Jazeera - 08/04/2004 01:45:00 GMT

Osama Bin Laden is attempting to enter the Arabic Gulf state of Yemen by means of a sea vessel which his team hope to board along the coast of Pakistan. Al Jazeera were told by local villagers that two attempts to board vessels have failed due to increased security around the coastal region of Pakistan.

According to sources, Bin Laden who in March entered into Pakistan escaped Pakistani and American troops after his location was successfully pin-pointed. Since then he has headed South and now is attempting to leave the region entirely to escape to the tribal region of Yemen.

Why would Al-Jazeera publish this info?

6. This is being reported now,
so that every talking head and newsmodel can do nothing but yap about it tomorrow. And that way, the second or third story on the news can be about Condi's testimony. (I could be all wet about this, though-it is being reported by Al-Jazeera. And not a real impartial source like, you know, the Washington Times.)

9. Bingo
You're right.......the media will do everything they can to keep tomorrow from being a slow news day. Otherwise, people might actually be interested in what Kindasleazy has to say under oath.

4. So, he's wanting to be captured ... our military/coverts, etc., are
incapable and he needs to leave them clues? Besides the fact that he was reportedly cornered, now I'm really confused ...

5. So now Al-Jaz has his coords?
"According to sources, Bin Laden who in March entered into Pakistan escaped Pakistani and American troops after his location was successfully pin-pointed."

You'd think if his location was successfully pinpointed they'd have found him at that pinpoint? I'd call not finding him an UNsuccessful pin-point. Or non-point. Or something generally other than successful in any case.

So why does Al-Jaz go to print with this information? On the one hand, if they wanted to help nail UBL they would pass this intelligence onto to TF29. On the other hand, if they wanted UBL to stay loose, this is tipping him off.

This is assuming that Al-Jaz thinks he's still alive at all.

I don't get this story. It stinks. But then that could just be the pervasive odor of anything now coming out about UBL.

MIDDLE EAST STABILITY TOPS YEMENI TALKS

Combined Reports

President Vladimir Putin pledged Russian help Tuesday in promoting stability in the Middle East, telling visiting Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh that Moscow was paying close attention to the troubled region.

(SNIP)

The Soviet Union and then Russia have delivered some $8 billion worth of military technology and arms to Yemen, Interfax reported, citing a defense industry source.

Deliveries have included a shipment of 31 T-80 tanks in 2000, according to the Newsru.com news agency. In 2001, Yemen signed a contract for MiG-29 fighter planes, the first batch of which was delivered the following year.

"The Russian business community's interest in cooperation with your country is growing," Putin told Saleh on Tuesday.

(SNIP)

Topping the agenda, however, was the ongoing violence in the Middle East and the situation in Iraq.

(SNIP)

International terrorism was also on the agenda, with Putin congratulating Saleh for his "principled position in the fight against terrorism."

Yemeni Prime Minister Abdul-Kader Bajammal said Sunday that Yemen -- the ancestral home of Osama bin Laden -- has dismantled 90 percent of his al-Qaida cells in the country, in part by payoffs to tribes that once sheltered them.

Is it too much to hope that Bush family business partner bin Laden family's black sheep will be caught by US NATO partners France or Spain? Now wouldn't that be embarassing for the Runnin' W Posse?
