Ex-President Bush Likens Kerry to Clinton

DALLAS (April 6) - Former President Bush said Tuesday that John Kerry's Democratic presidential campaign is using the same rhetoric about the state of the economy against his son that Bill Clinton used against him in 1992.
But the elder Bush said President George W. Bush has a stronger case to take to the voters this time around because the economy has begun to show signs of recovery.

"I was out telling people things were getting better, but the Clinton campaign ... portrayed me as being out of touch," the former president recalled at a business luncheon for 1,500 people.

8. Out of touch??
OUT OF TOUCH????

Well, DUH!

Portrayed? How about "reflected reality," asshole?

It still grinds their gears that Clinton, who rose from what they no doubt thought of as "trailer trash," whomped his ass.

They NEVER believed in the legitimacy of Clinton - not because of election shenanigans - just because he was who he was.

The HUBRIS of this entire family, thinking that the Presidency is somehow "theirs" by divine right, angers me so deeply.

Clinton had Major Flaws (chief among them the ol' keeping-it-zipped problem) but connecting with people wasn't one of 'em.

Damn, I miss him.

11. More:
(snip)

But he warned that "in politics, you have to remember it isn't what's actually happening. It's the perception that's out there."

Kerry spokesman Bill Burton said it probably was easy for Bush to talk up the economy at the $100-per-plate luncheon "but if you talk the three million who've lost their jobs since George Bush became president I think they'd probably have a different view. President Bush and his son are both good people who did a bad job with the American economy," he said.

(snip)

That's one of our greatest problems; the perception of * put out there by the corporate media, versus what's actually happening!

Why Kerry's spokesman feels compelled to call both Bush's* "good people" is beyond me. I've yet to see any evidence that warrants such a remark.

14. Poppy Bush is still bitter
That a patrician like himself, got beat by a nobody like Clinton. And the fact that he can't understand why people thought he was ought of touch just shows that he still doesn't get.

Gee Poppy, maybe it was because people were losing their jobs while you were tearing up the fairways of Kennebunkport and saying "Recession, what recession?"

17. geeee...
ya mean if we elect Kerry we will have a balanced budget and a surplus instead of deficits? jobs instead of joblessness? a sane foreign policy instead of shoot-em-up-bang-bang diplomacy? environmental policies that work instead of slash-and-burn? an educational system that DOESN'T leave Children Behind?

sigh...as my partner put it - "Oh Lord,I miss bubba..."

19. As Bush tries to tie Kerry to Kennedy/Clinton,
Kerry needs to tie Bush to Bush! In every way-shape-form! That will put him over the top (and drive the RW crazy)... just keep reminding the people of what Bush has done.

Tut-tut
