10. I thought about it...
...but the Pentagon seems to be holding casualty info close to the breast, so I'll wait to see what happens today. If casualty counts start coming in, I might have to.

I agree, depressing...

28. That trend was already in place
Occupying forces had previously kidnapped many thousands of Iraqis and held them hostage. Nothing new, just from the other direction.

20. The most patriotic thing you could do is NOT post FOX or Drudge links
This directly increase their revenue. They charge advertisers by the volume of their hits. Everyone should know this!

They, their liars, are invited onto other main stream show because of the popularity of hits their websites get too.

Shameful we help them get revenue and means to spread their lies. SHAMEFUL!

8. What do they think they are going to do with prisoners
Ask the UN to mediate or negotiate a truce

The trend of taking hostages is new but it well cause a lot of attention in the coalition countries. We might see a mass defection brewing in the works for W

26. Pressure "coalition partners" to back out.
That's probably the objective of political groups. If it's common criminals, which is possible, then it's financial.

Briton among missing in three Iraq kidnaps

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A British civilian has been kidnapped in the southern Iraqi town of Nassiriya, the scene of heavy fighting between radical Shi'ite militiamen and Iraqi troops, a coalition official says.

The official named the man as Gary Teeley, a British contractor. He was abducted on Tuesday and had not been heard of since. He said on Thursday efforts were under way to locate him.

....

(goes on to recap the s. Koreans and Japanese kidnapping).

14. They have video
Al-Jazeera television broadcast a video showing armed militants from a previously unknown group calling itself the "Mujahedeen Squadrons" threatening to kill blindfolded Japanese hostages unless Tokyo withdraws its troops from Iraq.
Eight South Korean civilians working in the country with a church group were also reported kidnapped. The unnamed Iraqi group behind the kidnapping later released one of the hostages.

A spokesman for the Japanese government said Tokyo had no plans to withdraw its soldiers

16. I don't think this will change the South Korean govt's attitude.
sad to say. I think they will probably continue on with the plan to send the troops. It's the "special relationship" the US and South Korea hold. Unless Roh gets re-instated in a hurry, and the "Uri party" wins a massive majority, I don't think this is going to change at all.

Although I hold no love for Christian missionaries (and my gawd are the Christian Koreans ever zealots), this kidnapping isn't gonna help things in Iraq one bit.

With my limited experience with them I have found them to be unrelenting and quite brutal. At least the experience with ROK I have had.

27. What does Japan have invested that is more important than the lives of
their citizens? There is always reason to negotiate. To say there should never be negotiation is as black and white as the Bush* Cabal sees things. I would suggest Japan is an easy target for terror and should try using some diplomacy. You know that thing the Bush* Cabal knows nothing about. The US has turned most of the world against it and countries like Japan better start thinking about their own well being instead of being the US's Donkey.
