John Boehner won’t say whether he talked to Chris Lee

House Speaker John Boehner said Rep. Chris Lee made the right decision to leave Congress following a report that the New York Republican had sent a suggestive photo to a woman he contacted on the Internet.

But Boehner wouldn’t say whether he had spoken to Lee and had urged him to step aside, stating that his private consultations with scandal-plagued members will remain private.

Boehner drew laughs from reporters when he was asked why sex scandals continue to occur on a regular basis in Washington.

“I wouldn’t know,” Boehner deadpanned.
