Think I am starting to see a pattern here.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A British civilian was kidnapped this week in the southern Iraqi town of Nassiriya, the scene of heavy fighting between radical Shi'ite militiamen and Italian troops, a coalition official said on Thursday.

The official named the man as Gary Teeley, a British contractor.

A Foreign Office official in London confirmed that Teeley was missing, but would not say what he was doing in Iraq (news - web sites) or comment on the manner of his disappearance.

1. This must be the new tactic...

4. "British Contractor"?
Edited on Thu Apr-08-04 08:21 AM by theHandpuppet
Every time I hear the word "contractor" now -- particularly when there is no explanation of the business in which this contractor is engaged, I become suspicious. Note that the Foreign Office wouldn't say what Mr Teeley was doing in Iraq. Need I say more?

9. Me too! was this Brit a Mercenary?
Is this one who serves or works merely for monetary gain; a hireling.

Is this the big price we're paying for mercenaries? Why no one could tell us exactly what the bill would be? I'm outraged!

11. If they are merceneries
then the company that employs them is going to be willing to pay to get them back, sort of not like if a regular soldier was involved.

I sure this is how it used to work in Conderoti (sp?) wars in Italy 16th -17th century (?). (this sentence very inaccurate)
