Infosys to Create Consulting Jobs in U.S.
<snip>

By S. SRINIVASAN, Associated Press Writer

BANGALORE, India - Infosys Technologies Ltd., which has become India's second-largest software maker thanks largely to outsourced work from the West, is investing $20 million to create nearly 500 consulting jobs in the United States.

The company has set up a subsidiary in Fremont, Calif., to provide business consulting to American corporations. The new company, Infosys Consulting, has begun "aggressive hiring in America," Infosys chief executive officer Nandan Nilekani told reporters Thursday.

<me>

This doesn't seem good. So we outsourced all these jobs and now all the outsorucing is turning around to employ Americans, but if that kind of trend develops, isn't it some kind of consession to our competitors that we're no longer the economic power that we thought we were? Just a thought.

1. Doesn't necessarily mean that Americans will be getting jobs.
It appears that Infosys has quite a number of H1B visa holders in the States (and in particular Fremont). My guess is that the majority of these jobs will be held by H1B visa holders to get trained up with working with American corporations will eventually be repatriated back to India to staff up the home offices.

3. US, get JOBS?
No, your average Murkan's job will be to serve Tikka-burgers to the new "Consultants".

What are they consulting, anyway? How American companies can re-design themselves to send MORE jobs to Bangalore?

I used to say "what are these companies gonna do when there's nobody left in this country who can afford their stuff? Boy, was *I* ever naive!

what do they care? they'll have made enough money to start their perpetual-income machines in The Market, so they won't give a rat's ass what goes on.

Until hungry people kick their doors in.

4. "Business Consulting"
They're going to tell people how to make their businesses more efficient and profitable. And one way they'll suggest to do that will be to sned more jobs to Infosys in India. This way they get not only the business but the consulting fees.

7.  Yes, there was an
article that said to expect a *minimum* of 250K jobs
per year to leave here until 2015.

Just how many burger manufacturers does Congress
think this country can employ?

But I don't expect the Congressional whores to do
anything about exporting jobs. They are already
so well off financially and continue to receive
goodies from their corporate masters...

6. Wow! They certainly work for less than the average American with
the same job title.

8. Exactly right
The H1B visa program helped get outsourcing started in a big way. Visa holders have been taking jobs from Americans for years. They get great experience here.
