Memories of 1995 haunt GOP as shutdown talk grows
Source: Yahoo

Few memories haunt Republicans more deeply than the 1995-96 partial shutdown of the federal government, which helped President Bill Clinton reverse his falling fortunes and recast House Republicans as stubborn partisans, not savvy insurgents.

Now, as Congress careens toward a budget impasse, government insiders wonder if another shutdown is imminent — and whether Republicans again would suffer the most blame.

Leaders of both parties say they are determined to avoid a shutdown. But they have not yielded on the amount of spending cuts they will demand or accept. Meanwhile, shutdown talk is rippling through Washington and beyond.

"It's good for political rhetoric to talk about a government shutdown. But I don't know anybody that wants that to happen," Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., said on "Fox News Sunday."

8. Agree. If they do, 2012 reverses the House GOP gains and Obama gets second term.
With more blue dogs out of the House (it was blue dogs who lost in 2010, not real Dems), some real shit could happen to save the country.

5. DC is a far more decent place when they're out of town.
Just as we were always more safe and sane when W* was on vacation. 50% of his Residency wasn't nearly enough to spare DC or the population, at large, from the damage he did from the WH.

THERE IS SOMETHING PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW..

the Tax Cuts for the rich, trickle down economics, the New World Order, Globalism.. who actually runs the GOP..

these are all Dominionist Principals..!!

the Dominionists work in the Shadows. in 1934 a Nazi refugee Abraham Vereide started what is now the "C st Family", the Christian Fellowship, A.K.A.the Christian Mafia.. and have taken the Evangelical movement into the Dark Side. THEY ARE BY DEFINATION..the Anti-Christ, don't get me wrong, i am a Buddhist i don't believe in the 'Revelation's', i did grow up in the Free Holyness Pentecostal church.. it didnt stick, i have a IQ if 164.. but i grew up surounded by Dominionists.. i know them, i know how they work

the Dominionists believe that God/Jesus only bless the Rich, Wealth and Power is proof of gods Favor, so it is a sin to tax them. God Speaks directly to the rich/Powerful, the poor must "Submit" totally to their will. the poor are being punished by god so it is a sin to help them, or not to torment them.

Trickle Down doesn't mean money, it means only gods blessings to those who followed gods greatest plan and made the rich richer. the New World Order is the Utopian Paradise created when all the worlds poor submit to gods great plan.. this is nearly word for word out of the Koran.. "Dar-al-Islam" ..Sharia Law. the GOP is Theocratic Cargo Cult of OCD psychotic narcissistic wealth/power hoarders.. in the 30's Depression FDR appointed Abraham Vereide to a Cabinet position to start programs for the poor to bring them out of poverty.. Vereide plan was to start Dominionist evangelical "Revivals" all over the country, only the Poor who came and prayed thru and totally submitted to the Dominion of the rich and Gods great plan would get help. he was replaced ..he immediately began undermining the New Deal.. still the fundamental purpose of the GOP.

http://sociology.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/wealth.html
the top 1% richest hold 42% of Americas Financial Wealth, 6 times that of the bottom 80% who hold only 7%.. so the top 20% hold 93% of Financial Wealth. that is why there is a Recession.. nearly all the available money has been looted by the rich. there isn't enough left to run an economy.

the GOP's agenda is really obvious.. it is simply Dominionism.. they don't care who they hurt, who dies in the process.. they are Elite Favorites of god who hates the poor under Devine orders to control the World.. no Quarter for unbelievers.

the best books on the subject, he lived with them..wonderful writer

They hate the government anyway, and what better way to get rid of the government ASAP than to shut it down....

they make me sick. if it wasn't for all the people who would suffer in such an event i almost wish they would push it that far and get their asses handed to them one more time.

9. The last time the gov't was shut down
there WERE a few that had appropriations passed and signed (i.e., Agriculture, DOD, Treasury). This time around, none of them have been done and this is going to have some major impact.

10. There's two wars on and an eternal terrorist "threat."
The Republicans will give away everything once they realize that shutting down the government gives President Obama all the power that they quietly shoveled over to the boy king.

You wouldn't believe the sort of crazy shit a President off the chain can do now, thanks to the Republican Congress of the early 00s. Shutting down the government pretty much automatically activates a lot of those powers, while many other laws can be exercised if there is a "threat" of terrorism--which is always, thanks again to the Republicans.

As one potential example, consider Section III of the Pandemic and All Hazards Preparedness Act, which allows the Executive Branch to create something surprisingly similar to a universal health care system, in an "emergency." The Department of Homeland Security, which is an essential government function, is given the power to effectively create a socialist state, setting wages, distributing essential goods and services, and so on.

And the very last guy they want would be in charge of it all.
