UK sought arms deals with Libya in Nov.
Source: Press TV

New evidence shows the British government has sent an arms delegation to Libya as recently as three months ago to sell it arms it may have used to crush popular protests. The delegation of at least 50 British weapons manufacturers included suppliers of ammunition such as rubber bullets and tear gas cartridges used to suppress riots as well as electrified razor wire.

The arms dealers including Birmingham Barbed Tape and Lincolnshire-based Primetake were part of an official military delegation headed by British ambassador to Libya Richard Northern. The delegation held talks with top military figures in Tripoli in November while also taking part in Libdex arms fair at Tripoli's Mitiga military airport.

The disclosed visit by the British delegation strengthens speculations that Qaddafi regime in Libya is using British ammunition to crush demonstrations.

It also suggests London knew the arms it is selling to Libya would be used against civilian protestors as the delegation was in Tripoli on an invitation from the Libyan Department of Defence, the Department of Public Security and the general committee of defence, which days ago said it would unleash its forces on anti-government elements to uproot them.
