Abortion restrictions advance ( victims of rape and incest would have to dig into their own pockets)

LINCOLN (AP) — A vote by Nebraska lawmakers on Tuesday could set up a scenario in which impregnated victims of rape and incest would have to dig into their own pockets to pay for an abortion.

The issue of whether to cover victims of rape and incest dominated legislative debate on a bill that would restrict private health insurance coverage of abortions.

The bill (LB22) by Omaha Sen. Beau McCoy would exclude abortion coverage from all private insurance policies sold in Nebraska — not just policies sold through a new health insurance exchange being set up under the new federal health care law. Abortion coverage would be allowed only with an optional rider paid for solely by the insured.

Currently, five states prohibit abortion coverage in basic policies and require the payment of a separate additional premium if an individual wants the coverage. Those states are Idaho, Kentucky, Missouri, North Dakota and Oklahoma.

2. This is a war on women
that will not end until we declare, definitively, that reproductive rights are human rights.

6. Yes!! Rights to all reproductive services are Human Rights, because they are the most basic
determination of the quality of human life.

In a culture of institutionalized economic and social injustice, choice in reproductive services is the authentic Pro-Life position*, the position that authentically manifests respect for ALL human existence. This self-determination makes Choice a Human Right.

*Though I do support the standard Roe v. Wade exception against late term abortions of healthy fetuses that do not threaten the life/health of mother, instances of which I believe to be so rare as to be non-existent.

An unplanned pregnancy. What a young lady has always dreamed of: paying additional coverage for rape resolution. How demeaning to victims. No wonder I find myself hating these people.
