LIBYA: REBELS FIRE AT HELICOPTER AT RAS LANUFCondividi
09:45 05 MAR 2011
(AGI) Ras Lanuf - Libyan rebels opened fire on a helicopter hovering above the Ras Lanuf oil plant this morning. The news comes from a Reuters reporter, who was at the scene, and says that there is no sign of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's forces in the city where the violent clashes took place on Friday, and that the situations appears calm. The regime denied having lost control of the area on Friday, but this morning, near an oil plant on the way into the city, there was a blockade controlled by rebels, watched over by half a dozen soldiers. To the question of whether the insurgents had taken control of the city, a soldier replied: "The whole city is 100% safe."
