Charlie Sheen Fired From 'Two and a Half Men'

Warner Brothers announced Monday that it had fired Charlie
Sheen from his hit comedy "Two and a Half Men."

The terse official statement read, "After careful
consideration, Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie
Sheen's services on 'Two and a Half Men' effective
immediately."

The studio, which owns and produces the series, will decide
about the future of the show at a later date, a spokesman
said.

7. Years ago, Richard Pryor joked about the sick and twisted jokes told about him
From "Live On Sunset Strip"

"Y'all motherfuckers told some nasty shit about me. Here, look at this. What's that? Richard Pryor running down the street."

Somehow I don't foresee Charlie Sheen taking a similar view of all the shit he's going to endure for his insane behavior.

9. I think Berta, the housekeeper, and the "mother" are the best
reasons to watch, anyway. Otherwise, with the actor that played Charlie's nephew having grown up, the show had largely run its course.

I think they could revamp the show, though... Hell, it is just a comedy/sitcom. Dramas are harder to recast, IMO.

67. Sex Addiction Treatment
I think Charlie Harper needs to go into sex addiction treatment because of his growing love for Rose and his desire to be with her. The show probably won't survive more than one more season regardless of what is done. A treatment facility (and let's face it, sex addiction is THE fashionable thing these days!!! LOL) would explain his absence and allow the other characters (the talented women cast members, including Rose!!!) to shine!

I like Gordon, too!!!

I, myself, just cannot see anyone else assume the role of Charlie with any success.

71. Two and a Half Men can go on without Charlie. They have a superb cast and I
think Jon Cryer can anchor the show well enough. The question is, how do they explain Charlie's absence? Do they kill him off and leave Alan the house, which Alan would then have to figure out how to pay the $50,000 annual tax on it? Or will they disappear Charlie, leaving open the possibility of a future return should Sheen ever get his shit back together? Either way, it could be hard to write wisecracking into a script with the death of the main character hanging over the rest of the family.

It's too bad this happened. Two and A Half Men is a guilty pleasure of mine, though Charlie's real-life meltdown has been evident in the most recent episodes.

He's acting out in real life the behaviour of his tv character. Obviously it's not as glamorous and clean as in tv land, but at least he's getting wasted and nailing women. Isn't that the glory of the character anyway?

one that can score in the top ten against new competition using a rerun? or maybe a star of a show that just syndicated (again) for $4m/episode? seven years, 22 episodes a year. you do the math. (in case you don't want to, try $600 million in syndication fees over the next seven years)

22. Someone will now produce a show titled "Charlie"
and he will play pretty much the same role with a different ambiance. Copyright laws cannot apply as long as it is a show in a different locale, with a different cast and a different plot.

The show will be a hit, because Charlie Sheen is inherently talented.

oddly, halfwit sheen is also union, but unlike the hardworking crew, this fool was making a million a show.

now that he's out of work that million a show should last him a few weeks (with the way he lives), then maybe (I'm not holding my breath) he will feel the pain of unemployment.

if not, he has certainly alienated himself from hollywood.

Perhaps he will do the porn circuit now.

53. Not entirely correct.
while Warner canceled the contract, it was sheen that acted like a jackass. He ripped into warner and demanded them triple his salary.

While warner is far from being a saint, they couldn't keep asshole sheen on the payroll when he was bad mouthing them in public on top of all his other problems.

it was sheen that started this not warner.

And believe me, I'm no defender of the studios. I'm an IATSE 600 member.

59. to be fair
he said he would need his salary tripled for the 8th season, following the incredible success of the show's sale in syndication last fall. which is, frankly, a perfectly reasonable position for the star of a show to take. two and a half men, for instance, gets as much in syndication as Friends did at the end of it's run (about $4m/episode) each of the starts of that show was making just over a million/episode at the time. is it unreasonable to think that the star of the current show, not even adjusted for inflation, should make 3/5ths of that total? oh, and the two and a half men syndication only covers about half the country, and nothing internationally. seems reasonable for sheen to believe he is making his studio and producers a whole heck of a lot of cash.

61. If that is the case then sheen should take the money and pass it on to the crew...
$3 million for anyone doing anything per what ever act is way to much.

I forgot to put in to the last past. Sheen's antics also put the shows shooting schedule into jeopardy. Each lost day of production is a fortune for the studio.

They finally had to cut their losses.

If I get fired from my job for acting like a jackass and in a manner which costs the company time and money, sure... one could blame the company for firing me, but let's be honest-- I'd have only myself to blame, regardless of whether than would or would not be "easier" than blaming the company, and regardless of whether it validatse or weakens someone's belief that The Man is always to blame or keeping me down.

I don't know if that's always been the problem or not...
