By HOWARD FENDRICH

WASHINGTON (AP) - The NFL and the players' union have left the federal mediator's office after a four-hour session.

Commissioner Roger Goodell, NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith and other members of the two negotiating teams resumed talks on a new labor deal Monday after taking a break over the weekend.

Mediator George Cohen also left his office shortly after 7 p.m.

The collective bargaining agreement expires at the end of Friday, thanks to two extensions. The league and NFL Players Association have made progress during 11 days at the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, but still remain apart on key economic issues.

1. I could be callous
and say I couldn't care less. But when it comes to professional sports, I just might be able to. And I don't think it would take that much effort.

7. Great!
Always nice to hear non-opinions from people who don't care. Keep up the good work. We'll wait with baited breath for your next declaration of malaise.

2. Whatever you do make sure the jocks get their collective
bargaining rights.

3. So, they don't deserve collective bargaining rights because you don't approve of their profession?
If the NFLPA can prevail against owners determined to break them, it will send a message to every union busting entity in the country, whether those here think so or not.

5. And if you change your phrasing just a little
If the owners can break one of the most powerful and well financed unions in the country it sends a message to every union busting entity that they can break their unions too.

6. Fuck solidarity, right?
We support the unions, unless those unions actually work and help their members earn more of the profits. That's the message here, isn't it?

4. If the NFL owners don't want the players to receive as much in wages.
Then they should reduce their revenue.

9. That's an interesting idea -
the City of Green Bay, Wisconsin could just about supply all the teams in the NFL with owner/players.
