Wisconsin Democrats Say Donations Pouring In After Senate Vote
Source: Channel 3000 Madison

The chairman of the Wisconsin Democratic Party says donations are flooding in following the abrupt passage of a bill taking away most collective bargaining rights from public workers.
Chairman Mike Tate said Thursday that $250,000 was donated overnight. He says the party has raised $750,000 over five days. Additionally, he says Senate Democrats have raised $750,000 over the past month.

4. Bottom line is that we have to do whatever it takes to win Wisconsin
back in 2012. Support for the Democratic party there has to be complete and unditional.

7. need more than money...
We cannot continue to fight big money by squeezing small conributions out
of real people month after month, year after year, election after
election. We have to change the structure. Some ideas:
1. coordinate the numerous citizen's groups to focus our efforts
2. pick individual targets for broad coordinated boycott, or recall, or
law suit
3. longer term goal: constitutional amendment to stop corporate money and
corporate personhood
4. coordinate with unions
5. perhaps unions could provide a form of auxiliary membership status for
anyone to join
6. we need a massive effort
7. we need a strong, smart, charismatic, fully committed spokesperson and
emotionally inspiring leader who is not vulnerable to politics to help
mobilize the masses

10. Limit Contributions to politicians to registered voters in district!
Edited on Thu Mar-10-11 02:13 PM by on point
This will keep corporations and other 'persons' from contributing as they can't register or vote. That gets around Supreme court decision. Would also limit outside influence of big money (sorry Koch brothers!).

Would not limit corps or Koch brothers from spending on public advertising, paid editorials etc for issue ads that are 'independent' of politicians. I don't see a way around that for the moment. I happen to agree with Supreme court o this one (as much as I hate the implications) that you cannot limit a groups right to spend money to disseminate their views. BUT, we can limit their right to give to politicians!!!

8. the goal: permanent one-party rule
Tom DeLay called it a permanent majority. A permanent majority, or one-party rule, by authoritarians. I think that adds up to totalitarian state. It sure as hell will not be a democracy! Folks, this is serious.

17. I tend to agree, but the reality of the situation is that everybody wants something
and as a result, they invest in representatives who promise to get it for them.
