GOP Looks To Drop 'Labor' From Committee Name
Source: Associated Press

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Republicans in the Tennessee Senate wants to drop "labor" from the name of the committee that handles commerce and employment issues.

Republican Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris of Collierville said Thursday that it's in the interest of brevity that he has proposed excising the term from the Senate Commerce, Labor and Agriculture Committee.

Senate Minority Leader Jim Kyle said the measure underscores an anti-union trend in the Legislature. The Memphis Democrat said the change would send a "negative message" to organized labor while lawmakers consider a bill to strip teachers of their collective bargaining rights.

Another proposed change would rename the panel on Environment, Conservation and Tourism as the Energy and Environment as the Energy and Environment Committee.

1. Well, as long as we're interested in brevity
Can we change the name of the Republican Party to "Soulless Pigs Who Would Sell their Grandmothers for a Nickel"?

6. You got that right..
I've had very bad gut feelings for the past 11 years. Now - forget, I'm headed to the land of paranoia. At one time I thought - worse case, we move to Mexico or CR. Now, that's not possible. I think I can understand how the Jewish people felt who stayed behind a bit too long. Ok, not too much drama but, I'm worried. How the hell will the middle class survive all this shit??

11. If he had delivered on single payer all this turmoil would be gone.
Remember the single largest expense for employers including the States is Health Insurance...Want to fix your deficit then get rid of the Health Insurance Industry.. Simple fact.

13. Well, geez, perhaps the fact that single payer couldn't get passed through Congress may have had
something to do with that. If only he had used his magic wand then we would have a single payer system.

16. No he said from the beginning he wanted an "American solution"
He did not want single payer and he was actively against it..In fact his administration called those that wanted it "fucking retards"...If Obama had wanted it, there is a very good chance it would have passed. You would be amazed at the amount of pressure a President can apply..

18. True -- just mentioning LABOR may give Americans the idea that profits are ...
created by LABOR -- !!

Here's an idea -- why don't we declare an international LABOR movement --

anyone can join -- and we don't do it by company -- we do it by our own organization --

and force labor to come to us -- we set the terms and the wages --

I'd also suggest that the public begin to think in terms of our own lobbyists and legal

representtion because obviously neithere of our political parties nor our president is

working in our interests!!
