Fearful of protesters, Florida Chamber of Commerce hires security, assigns threat levels
Source: St. Petersburg Times

TALLAHASSEE — Fearful that protestors might storm their doors during the legislative session, the Florida Chamber of Commerce is on lockdown — hiring off-duty Tallahassee Police officers to stand guard in the parking lot and establishing security codes (Red, Orange and Yellow) so employees know the threat level.

Chamber President Mark Wilson said Thursday that he ordered the precautions after hearing of protests that led to the destruction of public property in states like Wisconsin.

"We've been picketed by ACORN before,'' Wilson noted. "They brought people in on buses and pushed open our front door a few years ago.''

Their office, with about 45 employees, is about four blocks from the Capitol.

4. After a night of reading comments about the most wholesome people -- ANGRY, but "wholesome" --
being referred to as hippies "trashing" the castle capitol in Wisconsin, I'm not surprised at this higher level of hype. Thank God even affected union workers who previously voted Republican are now paying attention. They're "afraid", alright -- of what's happening to their jobs.

17. that Would Make a GREAT Sig Line!
"Don't start a class war if you're afraid of losing."

One has to doubt the sanity of businesses that expect massive profits, while sucking dry the consumer, firing the workers, moving to the 3rd world, and instituting fascism.

18. What the hell is a "Chamber of Commerce" but a Union of corporate "people"
And other than buying favors from legislators, what connection does it have to the legislative session?

If they are fearful of real people, they must be doing something that they don't want real people to find out.

One wishes that one could hire guards to protect America from the damages that corporate "people" have caused and are about to cause.

OH NO, PEOPLE ON BUSES AND PUSHING OPEN THE DOOR!

20. Lies! Propaganda!
"...he ordered the precautions after hearing of protests that led to the destruction of public property in states like Wisconsin"

There was virtually NO destruction to public property in Wisconsin.

"We've been picketed by ACORN before...They brought people in on buses and pushed open our front door a few years ago.''

Who can forget the bussed in GOP shills and hacks during the 2000 Florida recount efforts?

"establishing security codes (Red, Orange and Yellow) so employees know the threat level"

Lame, lame, lame... and "who" determines the threat level, based on WHAT? Reminds me of the bogus threat of terrorism they fabricated in Ohio so they could close an election office and manipulate the 2004 vote count.

HANG TOUGH FLORIDA!!
