Indonesia issues tsunami warning after Japan quake (Due to arrive at 7PM local time/11AM GMT)

Indonesia's meteorology agency said on Friday it has issued a tsunami warning for the eastern Indonesian areas of North Sulawesi, Papua, and the Moluccas.

Indonesia's meteorology agency said on Friday it has issued a tsunami warning for the eastern Indonesian areas of North Sulawesi, Papua, and the Moluccas. It added that tsunami could hit those areas at around 11:00 GMT (7PM local time).

The warning follows a major earthquake struck off the north coast of Japan.

1. What's happening? I just saw several threads
saying that there will be tsunamis in California, Hawaii, and now Indonesia? Is there something going on worldwide that is causing this?

I am in CA but haven't been watching the news. We are near the coast. But CA has a very long coast.

I hope you all don't get another tsunami like the last one, Turborama. That was devastating.

Al Jazeera English were just talking about how difficult it's going to be to contact and warn in time all the remote islands that are in the way of the tsunami.

We aren't in the tsunami danger zone as we live at the foot of a volcano, but that's another story.

It is so awful, cars and buildings being swept away like toys. The death toll said to be 26 now, but looking at those cars in the water, I am afraid it will be much higher than that.

Those poor people, there was no way out for them ~ :cry:
