Bali Shakes from 6.2 Earthquake

(3/11/2011) Almost 12 hours before the massive 8.9 earthquake that shook Japan on Friday, March 11, 2011, Bali also experienced one of the strongest and closet earthquakes in recent times.

A strong earthquake measuring 6.2 magnitude struck off the northeast coast of Bali in the Bali Sea.

The epicenter was 261 km northeast of Bali’s capital of Denpasar at a depth of 510 km.

No damage or injuries were reported, but some residents across the island did experience a rolling and shaking motion at 1:08 am that roused them from their beds when the event occurred.
