Wisconsin 14 planning "homecoming" march on capitol tomorrow
By Greg Sargent

The fourteen Wisconsin Democrats who have been on the lam for weeks are all returning to the state tonight -- and will celebrate their return with a march together on the capitol tomorrow meant to signal that they fully intend to fight on, a state senator confirms to me.

..........

The move is meant to signal that even if Governor Scott Walker was able to push through his proposal rolling back bargaining rights, the Democrats' decision to return does not represent an acknowledgement of defeat. Instead, they're returning home to join the battle to recall the Republicans who supported Walker.

"Tomorrow all 14 of us will head to the capitol, where we're going to thank the people of Wisconsin for stepping up," Larson told me. "We'll be marching to the capitol -- it is a homecoming." Once at the capitol, the Dems will join a rally that's already been scheduled.

In another sign that national liberal groups are priming for a long recall fight, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee will announce today that they are opening an official recall campaign committee in the state.

12. BUT IT WAS ILLEGAL. If the Fab 14 come back...
The bill they passed had financial impacts and thus was not legally passed with the required 3/5 majority. If the dems cave and come back, they can pass another bill with the Dems forced to be present for the 3/5 quorum. IT'S A TRAP!

The Fab 14 needs to stay out of state and the bill Walker signed today challenged in court and voided as it did not have have the quorum needed. We have a Supreme Court election coming up April 5th too.

They should stay where they are so that doesn't pass. I don't get it.

14. Email from MoveOn said 3:00
Dear MoveOn Member,
If Scott Walker and the Republicans in the state legislature thought jamming through their anti-union bill would end the protests and outrage in Madison, boy were they wrong.

Recall campaigns are gaining steam, appeals challenging the legality of the bill's "passage" are being filed, and tomorrow Madison is going to see its biggest rally yet.

At 3 p.m., the heroic 14 Democratic state senators who left the state to stop the bill are returning and will be addressing the crowd.

Can you show up tomorrow to welcome them home and help make sure Gov. Walker—and the whole country—knows that we're not backing down?

Here is the info:

WHAT: Wisconsin's largest rally yet
WHERE: State Capitol, 2 E. Main Street, in Madison
WHEN: TOMORROW, Saturday the 12th, at 3 p.m.

The national and local media are going to be out in full force and it's crucial that we have a huge crowd at the capitol as a show of strength and support.

Wisconsinites are pulling out all the stops to make the rally unforgettable. Just one example: Farmers from across the state are going to create a huge "tractorcade" surrounding the state Capitol. Yeah, that's right, tractors.

People from every corner of the state will be in Madison tomorrow to send a clear message: Attack workers and middle class families, and there will be consequences. We're just getting started.

Thanks for all you do.

15. Walking into a trap. The disastrous budget bill still needs a quorum.
And if this illegal and shameful vote by the repugs doesn't hold up in court - bam! It'll be in the budget bill faster than a repug can think of a lie.

16. Wisconsin Senators Returning?
Source: Email I received

Annette,

This is Wisconsin State Senator Chris Larson -- and today, I'm heading home to Wisconsin to join the fight in person.

The last three weeks have shown what progressive strength and worker solidarity look like.

My fellow senators and I know that thousands of PCCC members in Wisconsin and across the nation have been fighting right alongside us -- attending rallies, making phone calls, donating to some great TV ads, and telling your friends about the Republican war on workers.

No link yet.

He goes on to say...

I want to say thank you. I also want to let you know that the fight's not over.

Republicans need to learn what accountability feels like. It's time for Republican senators to be recalled from office.

The PCCC just opened up an official Recall Committee in Wisconsin -- which will mobilize volunteers and run new ads against vulnerable Republicans. Please chip in $3 to help fund this vital work.

Wisconsin Republicans brazenly stampeded over the will of the people as they engaged in their right-wing attack on workers.

They shut down the public hearings, they shut down the legislative hotline, they shut down debate in the Assembly in the middle of the night, and they tried to lock citizens out of the Capitol. And on Wednesday night, when they had their last chance at redemption, Republican senators chose to bend the rules and join Governor Walker's war on working families.

The citizens of Wisconsin are rising up and engaging in the democratic process like never before. Recalls of the Republicans are kicking into high gear as clipboards begin to replace protest signs in neighborhoods across the state.

Governor Walker and Republican senators refused to listen to the public -- but now the people will be heard all across the state at the ballot box.

Please help us win this fight by chipping in $3 to the PCCC's Recall Committee. Click here.

Thanks again for standing with us in solidarity, and for being a bold progressive.

I'm sorry. I've been through a lot in the past few years... heck, I have a hard enough time keeping names straight without adding in the DU name, too! And then that whole "name change" thing DU did really confused me.

I just posted a "suggestion" in the WI forum about a semi disorganized "meeting" place. :)

27. Huge crowds expected at Wisconsin pro-union rally
Huge crowds expected at Wisconsin pro-union rally
– 44 mins ago

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin Democratic and union leaders are expecting a huge crowd at a rally in the capital against a new Republican-sponsored law that drastically weakens the state's public employee unions.

Opponents of the law that would strip most public employees of nearly all their collective bargaining rights say the fight is not over even though Gov. Scott Walker signed it into law on Friday.

Union supporters have staged several large protests in Madison over the past month. They have vowed to step up efforts to recall Republican senators who backed the bill.

The 14 Democratic senators who fled the state to slow action on the bill are expected to attend Saturday's rally.

Gov. Scott Walker says the bill is necessary to help balance the state budget.
