Wis. gov. says support will grow for new law (he signed it today)
Source: AP

By SCOTT BAUER, AP

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker on Friday signed into law the proposal that eliminates most union rights for public employees, saying he had "no doubt" that support for the measure would grow over time.

The governor's signature on the bill quietly concluded a debate over collective bargaining that provoked three weeks of loud, relentless protests at the Capitol.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Walker said once the public sees government becoming more efficient, support for the changes will increase.

"What we're doing here, I think, is progressive. It's innovative. It's reform that leads the country, and we're showing there's a better way by sharing in that sacrifice with all of us in government," he said.

4. Sure, just look at all the people supporting it now. A handful...
...of trolls on a few blogs, one planted provacateur at yesterday's rally, and 18 of the 19 R. members of the State Senate.

That makes almost 20 in the state. I'm sure he can convince one more.

He's toast, and so is every state senator who voted with him.

But not so eager to SHARE power.

And that is fact. The people of Wisconsin's voice and desires were wiped out in one grand stroke of his pen.

41. This, this, this!
He wants to share the pain, but as the economy improves, he won't want to share the gain. As a public employee in WI, I can't wait until he is recalled. They are seriously worried about losing the majority in the State Senate. Walker has been visiting here (La Crosse) about once a week since this thing started and his golden boy Kapanke is going to be out on his ear very quickly.

31. Not of his own free will
He's going to kick and scream all the way to the recall and out the other side. He strikes me as the type to keep "signing bills into law" 6 months after all the court challenges are over and he is on the scrap heap of history, sure that the next lawyer will give him his power back, and then everyone will be sorry, just you wait.

14. I truly doubt it, Scotty
word is starting to spread rapidly about your budget and its effects on local school budgets, and your whole "I'm giving you the tools to be more efficient" isn't going to cut it when people start realizing who all you are hurting with your evil ways.

Efficient my ass. When you have no one to plow the roads, your trash piles up, and your kid is in a classroom with 39 other students (after an hour and a half bus ride, if you're rural), I don't think any of these scenarios are going to come up "efficient!" on anyone's radar.

29. Sadly, he's right
His popularity will be back within a month. Hate radio and Fox will rehab him and this law in no time. As I said yesterday, this was a huge setback for our side, and once again our pushback was, in the end, useless.

Actually taking the country back from Hate Radio, Fox, and the Kochs is going to require more, folks. Brace yourselves to either ramp it up or become slaves.

47. Fox News - they can sell anything AND the rest of the MSM follows them
I would expect several polls that suddenly show public support for the non-law. There was minimal discussion of the polls that showed 60% being against the changes before they happened (Fox&Friends actually flipped the numbers only to change it as they cut to commercial later in the show) so the general public won't find it odd that suddenly everyone just loves loves loves it.

with him since Jan 1, THOSE PEOPLE WILL NOT CHANGE THEIR MINDS!

As far as the polls in Wisconsin are going now, about 60% +/- DO NOT AGREE with what he did... probably more by now...

They will NOT change back...after this horrible display of arrogant behavior from the Repubs this week

He's wishing and whistling past the graveyard, as someone else said above. Reality and Republicans do NOT mix well.

55. You are forgetting that 3 to 5 of his RETHUG allies in the state senate will be
gone within the next year or two.

He'll also face a recall petition.

You think this past month is the STUPIDEST and WORST thing he could have done? Well, yes, so far, it is... .but he has time to anger everybody else in the state with his socio pathology, he's going to lose farmers, dairymen, even some bankers and insurance folks, who won't be getting the income they have become used to. As the state slips into further recession, with unemployed teachers, nurses, etc., just wait. He'll be ready to resign lest he face a recall.

I feel for the poor and working people of the state of Wisconsin, but they elected this monster, and they have to pay for his craziness.
