TEPCO says the holes in the wall of the outer building at reactor 4 have left the spent nuclear fuel pool exposed to the outside air.

1. I suspected this might happen, too much bad news than good news coming out
about the situation. Hasn't sounded good/really contained from the beginning. Thanks for link!

With the design of that style reactor, where the roof and walls are blown out on units 2&3 (?), the containment pools are also exposed.

3. Can't be! Lots and lots of folks right here on DU are telling me
that these reactors only produce as much radiation as a glow in the dark watch, and that you could eat and drink gallons and pounds of this water and those rods with your only concern being getting too much Vitamin C!

Nukes are just that green!

4. Spent fuel burns when exposed to air.
This explains the fire yesterday in #4. Spent fuel radiation is far more dangerous and could make the land "inhabitable". If you use France's estimation, this spent fuel radiation could be in Tokyo in the next hour or two, depending on the wind.
