Haley Barbour's Spokesman Resigns for Joking About Earthquake, Janet Reno
29 minutes ago

Haley Barbour's press secretary was just making jokes, but his boss -- make that former boss -- isn't laughing about the episode that prompted Dan Turner to resign Monday.

In e-mails sent to staff and supporters of the Mississippi governor, Turner made light of the earthquake in Japan, mocked former attorney general Janet Reno and joked about Cambodian genocide in the 1970s, Politico reported. The offending material was part of a "this day in history" roundup that Barbour's spokesman routinely mails out. Among its citations:
In 1968: Otis Redding posthumously received a gold record for his single, "(Sittin' on) The Dock of the Bay". (Not a big hit in Japan right now.)

In 1993: Janet Reno was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate to become the first female attorney general. (It took longer to confirm her gender than to confirm her law license.)

6. Where do these assholes go after they resign?
I mean, I'm sure there are companies that will hire them, but I think it would be interesting to find out what happens to them.

8. Sickening. Jokes??
Where do these people come from? To put that in print, too. A permanent record to show you're not fit to live in society.

13. Big deal! Do you know what typically happens to these people after they are fired?
They just wait until it blows over and they are quietly re-hired. Check out others who have done this in the past.
