CAIRO - Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi seems determined to turn the clock back and to kill as many Libyans as possible as he seeks to regain control of the North African oil exporter, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told a U.S. television network on Wednesday.

"What you're seeing today is a recognition that whatever is decided in the U.N. Security Council must include Arab leadership and Arab participation," Clinton told CBS according to a U.S. pool reporter who attended the interview.

"Many different actions are being considered, yes, a no-fly zone, but others as well to enable the protection of Libyan citizens against their own leader, who seems determined to turn the clock back and kill as many of them as possible," she said. (Editing by Tim Pearce)

3. I don't think so. It is not in US interest to remove Gadaffi. Because
of oil. Then, again, by the end of the month this may be a very different world.

4. Libyan stability is in US oil interests. Gadaffi is not.
Regardless, he has the presidency and the assent of the OAS. His money will buy the crushing of the rebels. But the writing is on the wall for him, finally.

The US is not going in there despite the invitation from the rebels - too much grist for the anti-american mill, too much money, too overstretched.

5. You know, the situation there doesn't solely revolve around US interests
