Libya Rebels Lash Out At West's Inaction
Source: Sky News

11:30am UK, Thursday March 17, 2011

Libyan rebels clinging on against pro-Gaddafi forces have lashed out at the West for not coming to their aid.

=snip=

"People are fed up. They are waiting impatiently for an international move," said a rebel spokesman in the city of Misratah, the last rebel-held city in western Libya, which came under heavy shelling on Wednesday.

"Gaddafi is exploiting delays by the international community. People are very angry that no action is being taken against Gaddafi's weaponry."

1. Does anybody have a link
which demonstrates exactly how representative of the total population of Libya the rebels are ?

This is a civil war and as such they may wait forever for outside help.

3. Do you think we should help the Rebels?
Because it looks pretty clear that without help it will all be over soon.

5. I have to wonder why we are sitting on our hands?
So we pick a side. I would hope its the side of democracy here.

6. The West
Is still moving too slow IMO. Before the West (UN US EU) act, it will be too late for the Libya people.

7. Who are the rebels?
Do they want a democracy or just their own version of a dictatorship? Will women have equal rights? Minorities? Don't you think we should find these things out before we start swinging our dick around again?

17. Personally

Whether they were Chinese, Iraqi, Zimbabwean...whatever, I would stop them killing each other before I started asking what their morals were. To me at least, life is more important than political views.

As an aside, I don't really care if it's the West or the east north or south, just somebody needs to stop the killing. THEN we can worry about their politics.

8. Don't start something you can't finish! And why the "West" and not someone else?
Did the "West" incite them to rebel? The article does not use the term "West" at all!

9. You've used a classic expression
which I'd avoided using at least for the time being.

Yes - don't start something you can't finish. I have severe doubts as to what overall proportion of the Libyan population the rebels actually represent.

At least the Castro Bros. and Ernesto cracked that one bearing in mind that when they kicked off in Santiago de Cuba there was only 15 of them left from the 80 or so who'd come over from Mexico in the Granma. They also started 3 days late . :)

12. What about the "No Intervention" message on that stellar banner?

That idiotic message has come to haunt them. Rather than demanding help when the iron was hot, machismo stepped in which has only worked to strengthen Gadaffi.

15. Patriotism isn't machismo. Most Libyans are patriotic and oppose foreign intervention.
I firmly believe the Libyan people are capable enough to solve their own problems.
