BAGHDAD (AFP) - A US Abrams tank and a trailer truck were on fire after two separate attacks near Baghdad airport, an AFP photographer on the scene revealed.

The tank was left burning at the al-Aadel crossroad on the way to the airport, he said Saturday.

US troops cordoned off the area, preventing journalists from approaching.

Nearby, a trailer truck, which was part of a US military convoy, was hit earlier Saturday by a rocket-propelled grenade, witnesses said.

3. we are outnumbered and surrounded
no kidding. Iraqis are attacking supply routes (i.e fuel convoy attack), and the airport, possibly. If they block the highways from Kuwait and Jordan for more than a few days; ground incoming C4's and resupply aircraft, I would guess the US would have to make a tactical redeployment to prevent catastrophy.

4. Our troops are now armpit deep in the shit swamp

If the 'small group of dissidents' can now take out M1 tanks, all the billions of dollars we are pouring into iraq won't keep the troops safe.

Once you can destroy the main battle tank with shoulder mounted weapons, you have removed the one thing that gave us the advantage: we have tanks and they dont.

They have just evened the equation. It's now man to man. And that's not going to bring the casualty reports down.

George W. Bush, you are under arrest for the murder of more than 600 american young men and women. You have the right to remain silent. Please do from now on.
