Rebels hit US army oil tankers west of Baghdad

ABU GHRAIB, Iraq (AFP) - A convoy of US army oil tankers came under rocket-propelled grenade attack in Baghdad's western suburb of Abu Ghraib, a witness told AFP.

"Several tankers are on fire," Ammar Salim told an AFP correspondent who could not approach the scene because US troops had immediately cordoned off the area. Smoke rose above the area.

A US army spokesman could not confirm the attack.

Salim said Saturday that the insurgents were apparently trying to "disrupt supply lines for the US army".

3. They sure aren't stupid
They have taken over the road by Abu Graib, just attacked the airport, and are continuing to shut down the roads.

5. Why isn't this on the news??
CNN was talking about the "ceasefire" and how the ball is now in Sadr's court to end hostilities. The US General in Baghdad made a public announcement to the Arab press today. No one said anything about this attack. Shesh...

7. The US military is fearful this idea could spread.
They will be fucked in no time flat if their supply lines
are cut. US military vehicles use huge amounts of fuel,
and bullets are in short supply. That is why you are not
hearing about it. That is why they are trying to get a
ceasefire too, to attempt resupply.

9. As Condi would say:
No one could have EVER anticipated that they would attack our supply lines.

As Rummy would say:
Just a handful of bad guys. We'll deal with them. Everything in Iraq is peachy! The people here looooove us. Did I tell you that we renovated a school?

As Cheney would say:
I have NOT had improper relations with oil on those tankers.

As * would say:
Evil...terra....YOUR children and THEIR money will stay the course until we KILL EVERYONE who disagrees with ME! I are a WAR PRESIDENT. Now watch this drive.

10. the images you are seeing on television you are seeing over, and over..
and over, and it's the same picture of some convoy driving down the highway, and getting blown up, and you see it 20 times, and you think, 'My goodness, were there that many convoys? Is it possible that there were that many convoys in the whole country?'

12. Conservatives, loving the past so much, should look up the Korsun Pocket
Sure, they finally broke out, but at a hell of a cost.

The true tactical lesson from World War 2 (especially in Europe) is that superior equipment, training and tactics will always lose to overwhelming numbers. The front is everywhere now, and the safest personnel are the combat troops; the logistical troops are the ones who'll be hit. As Nathan Bedford Forrest said: "Hit 'em where they ain't."

I wish we would come to our senses: we're in the wrong, we're killing innocents, bringing much deserved hatred upon ourselves and putting our service people in a horrible situation. Not only are we wrong, but we're doing it badly. Much as I appreciate the duty and sacrifice of our troops, it's sad to have them do it in the service of corporate greed and selfish revenge. These are sad time.

14. What is even sadder is to hear family members of our troops trying
Edited on Sat Apr-10-04 12:46 PM by keithyboy
to make themselves believe that this war is justified. I feel their pain. It's awful to have to admit yourself that your loved on is dying for no good reason. They have to try to convince themselves that this is a noble cause. I sure pity them. I sometimes wonder how many of them would have asked one of their children to run into a burning building to save a neighbor...especially if the neighbor were an Arab?

17. Bush would go apoplectic
No atrocity would be too great, if the oil fields were in danger. "Leave the oil fields alone or we nuke Baghdad", would be the first thing in the minds of Bush and Cheney. It's his precious.
