Pro-business group fires back at unions (Wisconsin)
Source: Madison Journal Sentinel

James Haney, president of the group, said the group decided to speak out after local chambers of commerce and trade groups in the state deluged WMC with calls about the boycott effort. Haney said WMC members were concerned the main unions leading the effort were groups representing police and firefighters.

"Inherently, when fire and police organizations write and say we don't like the way you think, it's a little chilling," Haney said. "You hate to see that come across your desk when you are a small business."

In its statement, the WMC was reacting to a call by several unions urging its members to engage in what they called "voluntary consumer activism." The WMC advised its members to "stand firm and not give in to the union demands."

Protest with your wallet. Money talks and it is the only language businesses speak.

1. If they're scared, we're doing the right thing.
It's that simple. They don't give a shit when we're scared about our pensions, our work rules, our jobs, our kids' schooling, our safety regulations. So if they're scared, I'm laughing.

3. It's called the free market people!
And if you're a business which has supported Scott Walker, union members are free to encourage people not to shop in your store.

Don't like it? Tough. Next time don't back the guy actively campaigning against working Americans.

8. Now is the time to make businesses afraid to donate to Republicans.
I think this is the only way to counteract Citizens United. Make businesses weigh the benefits of buying legislators against the customers they will loose by supporting these OVERREACHING REPUBLICANS.

9. I not only walked past the Johnsonville sausage,
I wrote them telling them that while I like their product, elections have consequences.

I will not support union busting and to let me know when they will issue a statement of regret.

There's always Nolechecks and Usingers.

That was the day BEFORE I learned of their support for Walker. Too bad too. We like their products.

18. Boycott Sargento Cheese too.
We're buying from local dairies now (Weyauwega, WI) Their products are delicious. So are cheeses from Zittau, WI.

13. Yep, I'm also not buying Koch brothers products either
Have the list posted on my refrigerator with a note that the below products are BANNED from our house!

Right at this minute (too much going on) I can only think of two products - Angel Soft and Quilted Northern. My husband put them in the cart last week, got thoroughly lectured about not reading the note, and the TP was returned to the shelves, replaced by Cottonelle - which they don't make - as far as I know.

WMC "fires back" at unions for an informative letter? And urging union members to boycott those who want to union-bust?

"But it shows a lack of thinking it through. If you hurt business, you erode the tax base."

Union members pay taxes, too. And, eroding consumers' ability to buy goods and services, the economy tanks and small businesses die, maybe even some big ones, too. So, who's not thinking things through?

Speaking of which, ever notice how politiians and other disingenuous folk speak only of small businesses and middle class, as though big businesses and the very rich don't exist? (Also as though the very poor don't--or shouldn't--exist.)

decide to withhold their meager coins. They feel completely entitled to *all*of our money.

On edit - the headline implies that unions are therefore anti-business. Nice. :eyes:
