Killing of Syrian protesters sparks concern from UN chief

18 March 2011 – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has voiced concern about today’s reported killing of unarmed demonstrators in a Syrian town, describing the use of lethal force against peaceful protesters as unacceptable.

Media reports state that at least two people died after security forces opened fire at the protest in the southern town of Der’a earlier today.

The neocons must be giddy with evil glee; I'm reminded of Rumsfeld's call to use the pretext of 9-11 to take care of all sorts unfinished business: "Go massive. Sweep it all up. Things related and not."

I have a bad feeling about ANY intervention in ANY of these messes.

Funny...suddenly Iraq looks like one of the most stable governments in the area. Maybe Junior and the thugs were onto something...
