Bahrain says Iran is meddling

Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid ibn Ahmad Al Khalifa has accused Iran of interfering in Bahrain's internal affairs through its statements in favor of anti-government protesters.


The Bahraini foreign minister made the remarks in response to Iran's formal complaints to the United Nations, the Arab League, and the Organization of the Islamic Conference about Manama's treatment of the opposition.

In addition, the Islamic Republic of Iran recently recalled its ambassador to Bahrain in protest over the brutal crackdown on the Bahraini people.

Iran has also denounced the deployment of troops from Saudi Arabia and the UAE to Bahrain to suppress the popular uprising.
