WASHINGTON — Several hundred anti-war demonstrators are protesting in a park near the White House to mark the eighth anniversary of the Iraq war.

The protesters carried signs Saturday demanding troops be withdrawn from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Others supported Bradley Manning, the Army private suspected of leaking classified documents to Wikileaks. He is being held at a military prison in Virginia.

1. There was never a 'war'. There was an illegal invasion followed by a hostile occupation
which continues to this day.

4. How sad that we mark this anniversary by launching missiles
at Libya. Killing to prove killing is wrong.

5. Sad that we aren't all there
.....marching in the hundreds of thousands. I know Mike Malloy is there today.

It seems that only a draft makes people (myself included) seriously put their time and bodies on the line to oppose American militarism.

We did demonstrate in massive numbers to stop the war from happening in 2001. TEN years ago. During the Viet Nam era there were countless huge demonstrations in DC, NY, Sacramento, and on college campuses nationwide, over and over, relentlessly.
