PARIS — France said Sunday that Qatar will join the international operation against the forces of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi within hours.

French Defense Ministry spokesman Laurent Teisseire said Qatar warplanes will join the operation alongside French jets, as a "historic partner" of France in the Arab world.

Speaking to reporters in Paris, he said the Qatari contribution will come "in the hours to come." He gave no other details.

France has sent about 15 planes to eastern Libya on Sunday, French military spokesman Thierry Burkhard said. He said no civilian casualties have been reported by French forces in the region.

4. I assure you it is no mocking matter to the Libyan rebels that bravely faced genocide via Gadhafi.
But do go on mocking the ethical decisions of nations that will save the lives of hundreds of thousands of defenseless civilians.

25. I'm sure it will save billions of lives.
If it weren't for this glorious bombing campaign, there would be bloodshed that would dwarf the crimes of the Nazis.

38. Considering Gadhafi promised another Rwandan-style genocide on the "rats" who opposed his rule...
I'd say the 12 nations + Qatar who are joining in this UN resolution are saving hundreds of thousands of rebel lives, because that's how many were involved in the democracy protests.

6. Why is it SO important for you to sell this....
...as the actions of other countries.
You (and the rest of the World) KNOW damn good & well the the USA is In Charge of this whole operation,
and without our "leadership" and active participation and Heavy Weight status at the UN, NOTHING would have happened.

Do you believe that claiming France is "leading" or that there is a cobbled together "Coalition of the Willing" adds some credibility or shields the USA and Obama for their responsibility in expanding the WAR in the Middle East?

Knock yourself out.
That didn't work for Bush.

12. there is a very big difference between iraq and libya
there is also a very VERY big difference in US involvement on the two. That you seem to have a problem distinguishing between the two is not something I can really help you with.

13. There is also much similiarity,
especially in the marketing hype being used to sell another WAR to the American People.

Did you see Obama's Press conference yesterday?
Creepy Deja Vu.

The US brought up the rear in that all-important regard.

20. You're either FOR us, or you're for Gaddifi!!!
I'm suffering some very creepy Deja Vu yesterday & today.

Most of the Pro-WAR talking points are exactly the same as the last time,
....and the time before that,
........and the time before THAT.

BTW: Almost every post that starts with "So...."
is a Strawman Logical Fallacy.
Your post above is a perfect example.
If you can find a way of starting your Strawmen with something besides "So.....",
it won't be so obvious.

"No fly zone" is a euphemism for war, just like "collateral damage" is a euphemism for genocide.

31. Arab League condemns action in Libya
The Arab League initially supported the actions against Gadhafi however when the bombs began to fall they've changed their minds. Without Arab League support this action in Libya will be seen as a western white male christian attack on the brown skinned arab peoples of the third world.

"...some of the 22 Arab League members were taken aback by what they have seen and wanted to modify their approval lest they be perceived as accepting outright Western military intervention in Libya."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/arab-league-condemns-broad-bombing-campaign-in-libya/2011/03/20/AB1pSg1_story.html

Obama should immediatly pull the US military out from any further action in Libya or we will be seen as the aggressor against 3rd world brown skinned peoples. Do we really want or need to have Obama seen by the world as another George Bush!

40. i'd have more confidence in this expedition achieving it's aims, of preventing civilian deaths -
if there wasn't so much ghoulish relish & enjoyment by the concerned governments, in the ongoing military operations & the resultant carnage.
it's pretty simple: the fucking gaddafi forces attack on the rebel enclaves was stopped. now stop with the fucking air-war.
this is not frikkin "World of Warcraft" on the 'net.
