Libya: Gaddafi 'not a target' says UK military chief
Source: BBC News : 21 March 2011 Last updated at 11:53

The head of Britain's armed forces has told the BBC that Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi is "absolutely not" a target for military action.

Gen Sir David Richards said that was "not allowed" under the UN resolution authorising military action to protect civilians in Libya.

Defence Secretary Liam Fox has said targeting Gaddafi could "potentially be a possibility" .

But the US Defence Secretary said that would be "unwise".

1. Sure.
*wink, wink, nudge, nudge*

I guess hitting his compound wall all a big accident. Some goofball entered in the wrong coordinates.
:sarcasm:

I DO wish they would come up with some better lies than the ones they have been feeding us for the last umpteen years.

2. Cheap Tricks

DWDD • Tuesday, February 22, 2011
Again a short speech of the Libyan leader Gaddafi, who has the support in all layers of the population seems to have lost and therefore resort to cheap tricks.

3. They took journalists to see the "hit" in the componund.
The AFP newsagency, quoting the coalition, says Gaddafi's military control centre was the target of strikes on Sunday and was destroyed.

Libyan officals took journalists to see what they claimed was the damage from a missile attack. Officials said the missiles had struck very near to Gaddafi's tent.

Anita McNaught, Al Jazeera's correspondent in Tripoli, said journalists taken to the scene asked officials why there was no smoke or fire. One official said he didn't know because he wasn't a military expert.

4. Which lie do you mean ?
Allied forces carrying out air strikes in Libya say Colonel Muammar Gaddafi himself is not a target, despite an overnight attack against his compound.

5. The coalition themselves said that they

targeted a different place in the compound - the Command and Control center - not the place that the journalists were shown. The journalists were shown one that was "close to Gaddafi's tent". Not true.

The coalition has not lied - they did target the compound but NOT Gaddafi.

6. It's all semantic bullshit.
The world has decided to step in militarily against Gaddafi. He is well and truly fucked. Whether a piece of ordnance actually lands on him or not is irrelevant. If not, they'll just end up pulling him out of a hole in the ground like Saddam, before they hang him like Saddam.

9. However...
...if he happens to be at a "military target" while its being bombed...well, thats just bad luck for him. And if it wasn't a "military target"...well you know how confusion happens when updating the target list in a rush.
