NATO fails to agree on taking Libya lead from US
Source: MSNBC

NATO failed again on Wednesday to agree on taking over military operations against Moammar Gadhafi's forces in Libya from the United States, chiefly because of Turkey's objections, diplomats said.

The United States is one of the few nations with the operational headquarters capable of controlling such a complex mission. None of NATO's European members have that capability and therefore rely on the alliance to provide it.

Oh, oh. It looks like the early stages of the justification for the US to retain the lead role, which will lead to an expansion of U.S. involvement and ultimate total ownership of the whole effort.

I predict the next major development will be European stakeholders begin to get cold feet and back out. Iraq-Afghanistan-Libya. Trillions of $$$$. And we continue to give tax breaks to the wealthy and refuse to pay for all Americans to get health care. Just great!

2. The end of the US...
(if it occurs) will be from one of these:

1) We destroy ourselves economically and socially by going to war with the rest of the world, one country at a time, or ...

2) A NATO-like alliance against the US will form and go to war with us when containment fails.

...or...

3) The containment measures from item 2 will lead to the economic collapse of item 1.

In any case, if we keep going in the direction we are, it won't matter because the US will not be worth saving.

4. It's clear who is going to end up footing the bill for this...
...that would be the American taxpayers. They found 29 billion dollars of Qaddafi's money at a US bank. Who believes Wall Street would let that kind of a chunk of change go?
