SF lesbian wife's benefits denial upheld by judge
Source: San Francisco Chronicle

A federal judge refused Wednesday to order the government to provide insurance benefits to the wife of a lesbian court employee in San Francisco, coverage the Obama administration has denied because of a law the president considers unconstitutional.

A lawyer for the employee described the ruling as a temporary setback and said she would sue to overturn the law.

The employee, Karen Golinski, won a ruling in 2009 from another judge, Alex Kozinski of the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, where Golinski has worked for nearly two decades.

Kozinski, acting as administrator of the court's benefits system, said its coverage extends to all employees' legally married spouses, including Amy Cunninghis, whom Golinski wed in 2008 before California voters banned same-sex marriage.

2. This is what was meant by "Defense of Marriage," apparently. Codification of unequal treatment .

5. I've given up on Obama
at least as far as equal civil rights are concerned. The president, whatever his other qualities, is not a friend of the GLBT community, and is surrounded by bigots like Valerie "Gay is a lifestyle" Jarrett. Gays and Lesbians have nothing to expect from him. (Nor from any republican, by the way.)

7. I'm guessing
She's not a Federal court employee, otherwise everything would be just fine, right? No need to take a more vocal stance on any LGBT civil rights, right? It's too bad the President decided DOMA was unconstitutional and decided not to defend it anymore; because everything was solved simply by his election. Who needs marriage equality when we got a Democrat in the White House.

High Fives, everyone! My equality is just as good as yours!

8. Oh Brother! Another Special Rights Queer!
Why Does This Lesbian Think....

That as the legally married wife of another woman.... that she should get "special rights, benefits, and ponies"? ......and when she doesn't get her way..... she turns on the poutrage......

Lets turn the tables here, and play the Devils advocate for just a moment......

Does the legally married wife of a man get the same insurance benefits that these filthy Queers want... HUH? Well, does she?

Oh wait  my bad.... in the 2nd case she does get all the benefits offered to her spouse, because she is straight....

Some will hate you to your face... others will smile, while they hate you behind your back..... but either way.... they hate you...
